Looks to me like a Class 10 is faster than a Class 6, for instance?

The class number is allegedly the speed, in MB/sec, that the card can be written to.

Gotcha.  So I can upgrade to a Class 10 on my camera and get faster speed out of it? Awesome.

Depends on the camera. Not all hardware can write at the fastest speeds available on SD cards.
