Supreme Court Says State Can Punish Sex Offender Inmates Who Won't Admit Crimes

Does it not seem WRONG for the State to be able to force your confession to a crime in order to avoid more punishment?

If you are a sex offender, and admit, we'll go easy on you.

If you are NOT a sex offender, and maintain your innocence, we will punish you further.

"If you are NOT a witch, you will not burn when we light the brush pile at your feet.  However, if you choose to confess then we will simply hang you and you can avoid burning to death."

Dorothy Rabinowitz of the Wall Street Journal has extensively documented the innocence of Gerald Amirault, who ran a daycare center in Massachusetts along with his mother.

Amirault was witch-hunted for child abuse at the daycare;  allegations included wild parties with clowns and robots raping the children.

He is still in prison despite repeated attempts to free him.  Gov. Swift promised to grant him a pardon (or whatever the legal term is), but reneged.

He has proclaimed his innocence throughout the mess, for something like fifteen years now.

More recently, about six or seven years ago, the Wenatchee, WA police went on a witch-hunt for child molesters.  The detective on the case used a girl who was placed in foster care in his house to accuse anyone who tried to stand up to him -- when a local pastor publicly told people that the witch-hunt was ridiculous, that none of the people were guilty, Perez's foster-care "daughter" suddenly "remembered" the next day that the pastor, his wife, and others held giant child-rape orgies in the basement of the church.  Coerced and tricked "confessions" were used in some cases;  in others, the detective and his coconspirators told arrested people that if they would confess, they could return to their families.  Sometimes they did this to "victims" who tried to tell the cops that they hadn't been molested.  Since some of the people charged were mentally retarded, or were "interrogated" for ten hours or more without legal counsel or their parents' presence, they sometimes gave in just to end the emotional abuse that these inquisitors were doing.

Almost everyone who was imprisoned, some for years, have been freed after the state FINALLY recognized that the whole thing was based on false accusations and Perez's ambition to make a name for himself.  He sure did.

Now the SC wants to punish people like these who refuse to admit guilt for crimes they didn't commit??  What if they're telling the truth?  Amirault was;  everyone in the Wenatchee case was.  This story might seem silly at first glance, or funny to a few of you, but the potential for abuse is very, very real.  It's happened repeatedly, and it will continue to happen whenever some sociopath social worker wants to become famous.
