There's a really cool song, done by a guy named Duke Robillard, that covers a lot of popular blues genres/artists/styles, that may better point you in a direction of a sound you like. http://new.music.yahoo.com/duke-robillard/tracks/blues-a-rama––34308137 You can get an idea of the different styles and sounds, and get in a general area you like. Me, I like the British blues of the '60s (John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers, the Beano album, required listening my friend) and Chicago blues the bestest, but that big Texas blues sound is awesome (one Freddie King track that doesn't get near the recognition it does, since most everyone knows Freddie King for Hideaway, is Going Down. The drums, piano, stinging guitar, it'll put hair on your chest listening to this track loud). |
