Wife has long since accepted that there will be a gun poolside. Tonight while i was enjoying my Jack and Coke and her a Vodka Cranberry, she asked why I had that particular gun by the pool.

I always use my Glock 26 for the pool/hot tub. No particular reason besides I would rather see it take a dunk than my Colt 1911 or her SIG P239.

I now invite ARFCOMers to post up why i'm gonna be raped by pool party zombies for having a 9mm poolside.

My "gun" is usually plenty for hottubing. I make sure to show it to everyone around so they know I brought it along.

You've got it fingered, already. G26. CTAC Two O'Clock Holster.

I'd go cheap on the rounds, though. Wolf with red sealant on the primer pocket. If you're smart, you'll be tossing the rounds after each immersion/in-between pool parties.

Always wrap it before you tap it, too.

I've always wondered how waterproof Ranger-T ammo is... Anyone know?

I'd say you chose well, OP... Glocks have a pretty solid finish on them.

Maybe I shouldn't have said hottubbing as in with others. It's just me and wifey soaking tired bones after long days at work. We are boring.

18 years married.

I just figure that someone could kick your front door in, break in through garage or for that matter, just jump the fence while you are in the

pool/tub. What ya gonna do? Hop out, go into house unarmed, get gun....too late.

even non sealed ammo is pretty waterproof as a result of the tension between the primer cup and case and the bullet and case mouth.

I have accidently washed several rounds of reloads and carry ammo (along with headphones, lighters, pens, ect) and when i find the ammo i will usually tear it down and detonate the primers and powder separately just to see if its all still good and ive yet to have a round be waterlogged.

g26 is covered in a small towed. I don't intentionally dunk it but would trust the glock to go under and come out blasting.

Also, i can break down the Glock and hit it with brake parts cleaner then lube. The equivalent of a whore's bath.

I would never subject my Colt Defender to such treatment!!!

So, I guess I treat my Colt like my wife and my Glock like a whore.

Pretty much anything I carry gets treated as such.  If it can't hold up it can't stay.  With that said, I do have a bunch that I'm careful with, but I don't carry those.  I shoot them, clean them, and put them away until I want to shoot them again.  As far as carry guns go, I'm hard on them.

Glock is a good choice, I once saw a documentary about abalone divers and one of them carried a glock. Here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LP_lnR_doBQ

The question is, since you're probably not wearing a dry suit, how do you carry? IWB in the speedo?

ETA: this post in no way implies a risk of shark attack in the hot tub. At least not in the spring. Just that, if a glock can survive in the ocean it can probably do duty in the hot tub.
