The National Security Agency's mission is that of SIGINT (Signals Intelligence) and INFOSEC (Information Security).  Each and every intelligence agency owns a piece of the pie when it comes to national security, but their charters and missions are all unique with no agency having an all-encompassing responsiblity for the entire picture.

OK, let me get this straight.  The major problem (supposedly) was that before 9/11 our various lack-of-intelligence agencies weren't able to share data.  So what do we do?  we create YET ANOTHER agency that has to be in the game creating one more place that information has to go.

Typical governmnet response to problems.  Spend more money and create even more bueracracy.  That is just friggin brilliant.  

All this "clearinghouse" will accomplish is more confusion and increased problems with proper flow of intelligence.  The problem is we have too damn MANY agencies already.

This whole thing is a joke.  Has it occurred to anyone in the government that there was at least one "mole" on the inside of the FBI/CIA?  I was in the intelligence field in the military and one thing I learned right away was that the "bad guys" always knew what we were doing and vice-versa.  There are major problems in our intelligence agencies and I'm of the opinion that they should be disbanded immediately and replaced with a group of people not unlike the folks here on this forum.  There's plenty of ex-military/intelligence citizens that I think would do a hell of a lot better job than what we have now.

I hope the BATF is included in this new agency along with federalization of state and local police. You civilians who aren't supporting the president 100% on this are potential domestic terrorists and need to be watched.
