The last apartment I had my stuff in got "broken into" by the maintenance person. He cleaned me out about $10,000; taking my pre-bans and the rest of my guns and ammo. Of course, he knew nothing about it and there was no sign of forced entry, but he got very nervous when the cops wanted to talk to him.
As far as I've seen, Texas apartment leases don't usually prohibit guns, just the offensive display. My old roommate ratted to the apartment manager that I had guns in my room. They said there's nothing they could do about it, but they moved him to a different unit for "his safety". My advice is to hide your guns as far in your closet as you can hide them, or to put them in boxes, and stash them somewhere out of the way. That's how I've got mine now, and I haven't had any trouble, despite maintenance working in my room from time to time.
