Fairly simple poll.

you currently own or have you ever owned any NFA items (suppressors, SBR, SBS, AOW, MG... etc)

Or up to this point, have you never owned one.

I am among the never owned at least so far.

one day ide like to buid an SBR. been reading up on the whole process in the armory section. but i do have a *newb question though. if im building an SBR would i have to pay the 200$ tax on the upper and lower? or just the registered lower?  i need NFA for dummies book haha.

I have an irrational hate for paperwork.

One day, I might jump in. The county I currently live in has no LE willing to sign off on the forms. That just means more money and paperwork.

You only pay for the lower on an AR.  It's a one-time thing for that AR as well.

I'd like to once I get a more permanent address. I don't know what is required if you move with C3 stuff.

If you move in state nothing is required.

If you move out of state you fill out a simple 5320.20 - the same form that's used for temporarily transporting NFA items other than silencers and AOWs interstate.

You can find a copy here.

Plan on it, just don't have the cash to dive into NFA projects. Most of my bucket list is SBRs and Cans.

I want a couple suppressors.  They're a no-go in MI.

Happy switches are cool, but I don't have any.

For some reason SBR's/SBS's don't interest me.

Doesn't each round require a tax stamp or are those just practice rounds?

Is the cannon actually an NFA device?

Rounds would only be DDs themselves if they contained at least a certain amount of explosive. If you just run straight projectiles, they're just ammo. The cannon would be a large-bore DD.

Same applies to 40mm launchers (and 37mm if you want to launch things other than flares).

Much, much handier. I really like the way my 11.5" handles and balances versus a 16". (I'm actually considering papering and cutting down my remaining 16".) Having a short barrel also means that when you put a can on it, you don't end up with something that's really long.

SBSes are a little less generally-useful unless you are talking about a Saiga, since reducing a conventional shotgun's barrel also reduces magazine capacity.

if you change your permanent address, even if in same state, ATF wants to know.  not a big deal though, just send them a letter.

Shooting from a bench, nothing. If you're doing any sort of reactive shooting they're the tits due to manueverability, especially if you strap a can off of it.

Sure - they want to know but there is no requirement if it's a permanent address change in state to notify the ATF.

There's some nuances there that you need to be aware of.

If the conversion is permanent - ie if it's something like a registered receiver M16 - then you're fine no matter what.

If the conversion is not permanent - ie a RDIAS or an HK registered sear - then the gun is fine as an SBR so long as the conversion device is in the gun thus making it a machinegun.  If you swap that conversion device to another host (as is common with these devices) then you will need to revert the previous host to Title I status.
