i dont really care to use undercoating, is there anything like some kind of light oil or wd40 that i can spray on the underside of my car to protect it from rust

Get an undercarriage wash every now and then.  Probably cheaper than some sort of coating.

Power wash it now.

Paint it.

Power wash it about once a week this winter.

you live in Louisiana.  there's not enough winter down there to need road salt.  unless you go cruising along the salt water levees a lot, which would be my guess as to how you're getting salt on the undercarriage.  don't you just love commercials where they show someone in a new pickup or a new sports car zooming around on the beach, in and out of the surf, slaloming around....

that's car cancer for sure in the making right there...

my chevy was new in 1998, and it's a little rusty, more dirty than anything.  been to the coast numerous times, but i always stop off some where on the way back and hit the underside at a car wash with just water.

wash the underside of your pickup periodically.  touch up paint it wherever it needs it.  don't worry, be happy.  hey, you could find someone with a car lift, like an outdoor one at a muffler place, for instance, let 'em lift up your pickup, and powerwash the bottom of it good with a power washer.  just a thought.

peace, love, and gumbo.

Zeps Ironclad.

I've coated bare, machined surfaces with this and left them outside for years with no ill effect.

I have a 99 F150 4x4. It sits outside everyday and is a daily driver with 260k miles. No undercoating that I know of. The only rust problem area is the around the tailgate. It gets washed a couple times a year.

I may have to stop by the dealer tomorrow.  I wonder what the Banks intake and exhaust did to the numbers on my truck?

i'd guess you probably got a decent boost out of that. I know ford is saying if you do ANYTHING to the powertrain (including intakes or exhaust) on the ecoboost, they won't touch it for warranty work, so i'll have to wait until it's out of warranty to add some pipes. i've always loved the tone of borlas. I figure, being twin turbo, they've got it breathing well enough, stock, to not have to worry about it.

it certainly isn't lacking in power.

Wash it now with good soap and water.  A power washer would be a good idea.  Then use Fluid Film, all over.
