I have to admit that I always liked VFG's so of course I also always liked railed forearms. I have been shooting multigun for a little over a year now and have used the VFG on a few different AR's. Started off with a big GG&G VFG and then moved to a Magpul VFG but now, now I took it off! I know, crazy uh.
The multigun I shoot is meant to be 'Tactical' and as such lots of guys run VFG/AFG and lights and almost all have an optic of some sort. Last month we were shooting at mini IPSC rifle targets through a Vtac barricade at 135 yards. All the guys with side mounts lights and VFG/AFG's couldn't get their gun through the slots and when they rested their pencil barrel on the wood... Lots of misses. Now I heard the barrel deflection caused all those misses but I don't know if it's gonna throw rounds off that much. I couldn't get my gun all the way through (and you can't for most slots anyway) either but I have a heavier barrel and iron sights, no misses... I actually am just really liking the naked forearm and it does feel better to me for all that straight arm thumb over the top blasting. Talking to one guy about why he didn't do as well on the stage he made a comment which is pretty true. Guys that use iron sights also don't often hang a bunch of accessories off their gun either. I have rails not because I put a bunch of junk on them but just in case I may need to one day. Yeah I know lights are good and have one on my HD shotgun but nothing else. So the point of this is how much junk (junk being used for accessories, don't get butthurt) do you hang off your AR? ETA: didn't include sling or mag in poll. Was looking at forearm accessories mostly and sight system. Also, can you use and are you proficient with your rifle with how it is set up? ETA 2: damn I knew I forgot something in the poll, it's limited to 10 but I forgot to make mention of 'Hand Stops' I looked it to getting some but haven't tried them out. I'm getting to the point that the end of the front sight is my 'hand stop... ETA 3: link to secondary question Did you Master you Iron Sights before moving to Optics http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_1_5/1217632_.html&page=1 |

Surefire rail
VFG Streamlight TL 3/mount BUIS 2 point sling Eotech I have a bipod for some reason but it is never on there. That's it. Rifle is a RRA, houge grip, 2 stage trigger. |
Eotech 512. That's it.
ETA: And a sling and magazine, of course. |
VFG
Green Laser surefire Light Eotech 4X Magnifier on flip mount BUIS and a nice two point sling but I also have a iron sights only ar |
Nothing like an afternoon of bouncing nuts on your chin, eh? |
i've thought about hanging a set of truck nuts off my AR just to get y'all pissed off
seriously though, an eotech 512, a surefire, a MS2 sling, and a BAD lever.

I had a BOBRO VFG on my gun then I tried a Magpul AFG and then went with nothing. It has come full circle.
BUIS
modular rail Magpul RSA, RVG, MS2 sling, SLAP plate not much, however I plan to add a flashlight and Aimpoint soon |
Optic and VFG full time on most of mine. I have a Surefire X300 on a LaRue mount that only goes on for night time ops.
I have a free float larue rail and the only thing that is on it is a troy front sight, and rail covers. I have a Larue FUG but hardly ever put it on the gun. |
When mine is finished, it'll (hopefully) have
TangoDown short VFG (check) Vickers/BlueForce padded sling (check) Surefire Scout Light (check) Aimpoint Micro in LaRue mount Troy folding rear BUIS (check) which is all I really can use on there. I have more "rail estate" but no reason to put anything else on there. Or I might get an ACOG TA33R-8 instead of the Aimpoint––or in addition to, if they're both on LaRue QD mounts. Give that "return to zero" thing a workout. |

Whatever ARFCOM and MAGPUL tell me to. This is the correct answer. |

Have an Eotech EXPS, a 2 point sling, and an MI front site rail incase I need to put a light on it.
Also have a 20" plain jane. |
Surefire 6p LED in a Larue inline mount & MI BUIS
––- Formerly have had Eotechs, AFG, VFG, "Da Beemz", Bipods, Scopes, Ect.... I might consider putting an T1/H1/R1 on it, but I've come to the conclusion that "Things that are complex are not useful, Things that are useful are simple." ETA- I also have a sling, but don't count that as an accessory. |
Just irons on three, and irons and a rail section on MOE handguards I intend to mount a surefire light I have once I buy the mount.

13" troy tube
G2 H1 Sling 6.5 pounds :P I might replace my flip up sights with the offset Surefire ones instead.
Troy stubby, Eotech 512, and when necessary, a light.
I am as proficient as the next guy i suppose. ETA: I didn't think about sling adaptors. I use the noveske QD mount that mounts inside my 11" Troy TRX extreme- so technically it's inside the tube and not "hanging off." |

Irons..nothing else, optics, rails, lights, and etcghey... At minimum I think a rail is good because it allows options. I have mine covered with the magpul rail cover clips (yeah I forgot what they are called). |
JP free float tube. BUIS. That iz awl.
ETA: QD point for a Harris bipod, but that only goes on while shooting. |

Draw me a picture. Why did the entire rifle need to be pushed through the slot?

Sling, optic, BUIS, light and sometimes vert grip.
A rifle without a sling or light is a toy or a tool but not a weapon IMO. |
While I will agree that being good at using irons is fundamentally important rifle marksmanship, when it comes to my HD setup I must take the likely situations I will encounter.
Since it will be night, I have a light. Since it will probably be a short, fast shot, I run an eotech. The light works better with a vfg, so I use that as it is more comfortable for my purpose. That being said, adding shit to your gun isn't going to make you a better shot, it will only let you use the skill you already have more efficiently. |

Light, vertical grip, sling adapter, irons on a DD Lite rail. Gonna get an Aimpoint whenever funds allow.
