Make sure you goto your local camera shop first and try all thier models, waste thier specialist time, soak up some of thier expensive overhead, look through thier catalogs and find exactly what you want.

After you do all this they go shop on the internet and save the sales tax, and cry about how your local retailer tried to screw you.

Did you try your local Wolf/Ritz Camera shop?
They carry em.   If you bring the wife along they will dicker.  Over the price that is.
I got them to throw in a bag, filters and 50 free photos through processing.

Make sure you get the US warranty product. Very often the cheap ones don't come with a warranty usable in the US.

This is not always the case. I go to local retailers, check out their merchandise, and when I am ready to buy, they claim all they have is a floor sample, which they cannot sell, or they sell it for a minor discount, and its beat to hell from everyone and their dog messing with it. (Cameras are the worst-- scratched lenses, broken doors, etc.)

I hate these large retail stores that never have any of the cool stuff in stock but advertise like they do- and place ads to get people to come in and buy the stuff, but they only have low end stuff in stock.

The way I see it-- if they do not have the items in stock that they advertise, then they are the stupid ones.
