The ones I have seen the small print says you won a chance to win 25000. Too good to be true it always is.

I'm sure it's BS. If the fine print on the ticket doesn't tell you exactly what flavor of BS, then send an email to their internet sales guys through their website and find out. Use a disposable email and phone number if you must...

Nebbermind, spotted it.

So i won permission to drive across the county to get a scratch off ticket right after a massive sales pitch. Goody. |

The car dealers around here are always sending out things like this. Everyone gets a "winner" in the mail and then you take it down to the dealer and they compare a number on your ticket to their list and 1 out of the 25000 people will win something good while the other 24999 will get a dollar or some other worthless "prize". They just do it to get you down there so they can try to sell you a car.

Alternately, the key that was taped to this mailer may* start a 2010 Altima. Too bad my garage is full

My mother got one that said if this remote keyless entry opens the door you win the car. The "remote keyless entry" didn't have any electronics in it.

Retype the check with reversed info, send it to them and tell them they won $25000 but need to wire $2500 of it to your account as a winners fee.

I received one of those from a car dealership once and and won. It was something like a $2000 shopping spree at an online "shopping mall," only you had to pay obscene shipping and handling fees for junk.

The ones I am familiar with is where the flier has a scratch off w/ a number and the claim that you won a $20,000 prize or whatever...
...only you have to go to the dealership to view the number on display. If you're number matches, you win the $20,000. Legally they have to mail a winning ticket in accordance w/ whatever odds they have printed, so the gimmick is the direct mailing company simply mails the known winning flier to a bunk address  I've also seen the free ipod, cruise or vacation package ones; EVERYBODY wins the vacation package; which entails some stupid fees and a timeshare seminar Although once I handed out hundreds of $5 Home Depot Gift cards from a car sale flier promotion...I have no idea what THAT campaign costs  Speed |
