I do a different type of job....but I asked my best source on this issue and he said:

Follow these instructions and paste that init string you see below in the last step....

control panels
Phone and modems
go to modems tab
properties button
advance tab
modem initialization commands
AT&F1S15=128

v42 is the compression protocol built into the modem you have, it very typically fails on US robotics (Especially sportsters)

Causes packet loss, connectivity issues and browsing issues....

If that doesnt help, I wont be back to work until next week, not at work now...but you can call me or email me at [email protected]

We'll get a level 2 for you if this doesnt work!

Port: 110 is your incoming email server!

Go to tools, accounts, mail tab, properties!

INCOMING MAIL SERVER: pop.mindspring.com....seems like you may have "mail.mindspring.com" in there!!

Also, "QOS packet scheduler" -which sends packets back to msoft... in your O/S (network option) if its enabled,(may cause latency) you have to take it out if it's greyed out (Should be) then the only one we know of that can disable it is microsoft...they monitor usage with it...

Do this:

OE, go to tools, accounts, mail tab, and remove your account.

Then hit "Add, mail" from the accounts window.

Type your name, hit next
type your email addy, next
type in "pop.mindspring.com" for the incoming server

type in "mail.mindspring.com" for the outgoing server.
hit next

account name is fine, leave it be,

type in yer password

hit next and finish.

If you've already done this then disregard:

the reason I want you to recreate the account is because sometimes a corrupted account will screw it up unless you recreate it...

If you recreate the account, you do NOT want to use SPA.

Tell me what happens next through email....going to open mine now.
