Hi, I'm KyCruffler and I have have an AR-15 addiction.  It started innocently enough.  .22's and .410 rabbit guns as a kid.  Then .22 hand guns and on up through .38's and 45's as the years passed.  Bought the odd sporting gun here and there (you now, "gateway" guns).  But I could control it.  A few years ago started moving into the harder stuff - milsurps.  M-1's, 1903 Springfields, 1917 Enfields, Mauser K98k's, that kind of thing.  Even got my C & R, but I felt like I was still in contol.  Then, a couple of months back, moved up to my first AR-15, a Bushy.  Damn, knew I was hooked with the first shot!  Found myself spending time at work on internet auction sites, placing big orders from ammoman.com, drooling over other AR-15's.  Then, day before yesterday it happened.  Was in a nearby town on business and wandered into a gun shop I know there.  Was just going to look, I swear it!  And there it was, a Bush 16' Mforgery!  Next thing I knew my hands were sweaty and trembling.  I touched it, held it, sighted down it.  Felt it's heft and balance.  Tried to think of all the reasons not to.  Tried to think of the wife and kids (not easy to do since I don't have any!).  But, I couldn't help myself - bought it on the spot.
Brothers, where does this end?  I think it's out of control now!  I see myself lying in the gutter some day, clutching an arm load of AR-15's!  Has this happened to anyone else?  Is there a cure?  Or, do we care!

I think there's a patch for it... or some kind of gum you can chew...

I think you've found a good support group... but then... we're all addicts too...we might not be too helpful!

It never ends.  Check back in when you reach the 500 mag and 10,000 rounds on stripper clips level.

Very true.
I live in a van down by the river.
In my van I have 12 AR's, 10 pistols, two reloaders and 500 lbs of ammo.

Well, you've already reached the first step of the program for addiction: admitting that you have an addiction.

The second step would be to drop ship your entire collection, including ammo, to me.  I'll provide you with an FFL to ship to and hold onto them for you while (and after) you recover.

You'll be less tempted that way.

P806,
You are still in control, until you sell the van to buy more AR's.

Hello, my name is Randy and I'm an AR15aholic!

Step 1 - Avoid Gun Shows and BRC!

Damn. I've failed again...I never get past step 1, much less all 12!

Make sure you don't start sacrificing ammo purchases for new guns.  Remember-the only reprieve we have is by pulling the trigger and hearing that sweet spring recoil.

Ahhh, the spring.

Not me.  Addiction is a nasty word.  I prefer having a compulsory purchasing disorder.

Thanks guys!  Hey, I never said I was trying to quit.  In fact, I can only see this addiction of mine growing and growing!  At least I have a great support group of understanding fellow addicts.  Oops, sorry, fellow sufferers of "compulsive purchasing disorder" (damn, I like that!).  Have a great weekend all, and hope you all get a chance to have some gun fun.

Crufflering is technically an addiction in and of itself (no need to bring ar-15s into the picture). If are serious about kicking your addiction may I suggest a name change?

I am addict myself. I have to have a variety though.
sometimes ARs,sometimes handguns. ammo and clips get me by when I am low on money.

Resistance is futile.  You have been assimilated.

Your not addicted yet, you just need AR-15 to function, that's all.
Your not an addict until you've tasted the sublime purity of full auto.

But once you have tried AR-15 There is no hope. you will have crossed a bridge from which there is no return.

withdrawal from AR-15 will cause liberalism

I feel your pain brother. What you need is a good overdose to put things in perspective.
