A question not related to the butt-pirate issue: where did the money in this federal fund come from? Are they giving tax money to the families of victims? Why? Shit happens all the time. Boo hoo. How many people die each day in this country? Do they get free sympathy money? If it's money from the donations that poured in after the attack then I have no problem with it being doled out--thats what the people who gave had planned.

Hey Gay or not, they were Americans killed on American soil by foreign attackers.  How they lived their lives they will make peace with their makers.  But lets give them (and their partners are also included) the same honor and respect that we give to all the other Americans killed at the WTC.   Besides what would we do with the extra money?  Make a grant to the HCI?

For the record, a "gay" partner is not the same as a spouse.  If you do that, then you have to include live-in boyfriend/girlfriend, etc. at which point marriage has no meaning.  That doesn't mean I don't feel sorry for them, because I do.

Sorry, I know to many of them to feel that way. I don't have a problem with the whole domestic partner issue. My opinion is, let 'em marry, alot of issues will go away and western civilization won't fall-down-go-boom. I DO have a problem with giving money to these victims when people die as a result of criminal action such as the WTC attack.

Suppose this. Your wife/husband/(insert other) dies by a criminal action. What does it matter  if it was a) the WTC or b) back alley mugging? They're still dead. Why is one group of survivors any more deserving?
