Check it out it's a short read. Personally I dunno, it's been ten years since I was there but they seem to have their fair share of problems and obviously their holier than thou snobbery still knows no bounds.

Hilarious!  That same summer of 1966 I was embarked on my Leave-Home-Young-Drink-And-Fight-Your-Way-Across-The-British-Empire Tour.  Successful too I might add.  My ferry was the Southhampton-Le Harve run.  I will never again look at a gin bottle the same.  Dirt poor, we were extended gracious hospitality by good folks.  On our way to Paris we slept under churches in the Rouen valley and drank strong French coffee with fresh warm if unpasteurized milk.  To think Joe Klein was there at the same time is amusing.  We probably emptied some of the same bars.
