Anyone had a chance to do a side by side comparison as the overall impression? Which one do you like better and why?

I have never shot either rifle, however I think both are excellent weapons.

I base this assumption purely on the brow beatings doled out to those who disagree with the fanboys of either system.

But i'd still get a GAP-10 over either of them..

I was in a class with 2 OBR's and an LMT.. We were shooting MOA sized targets out to 400.. Long story short the OBR guys struggled to hit targets all day. Both of them ended up switching out to their bolt guns and ended up being two of the better shooters in the class with their bolts.. They just couldn't hit the targets with their OBR's. Take it for what it's worth.

Also, the Larue fanboys are heavy here on ar15.com.. If you want an honest assessment ask at a few different sites..

I like the OBR, think it's reliable and the customer service speaks for itself... The accuracy just isn't there. I also think they are over priced, both the GAP-10 and the LMT are cheaper, and there is nothing to justify the additional expense of the OBR..

SR25EMC over both. Match accuracy and combat reliability. Best of both worlds.

I have several LMT AR's and no LaRue's...at this time.

I would go with the LaRue if I were going to pick one.

I am contemplating selling my AR10 and looking for something else to get and the LaRue has been in the thoughts for a while.

I've handled two different LMT 308s and they seem very well built.

That said..... I bought an OBR about 8 months ago.

Very happy with it.

I've never shot the LMT, but I have shot an OBR at 1000 yards. Having never shot an OBR or shot out to 1000 yards before that, I want one.

I hit the steel gong 3 out of 5 shots. Once was me being dumb and the second miss I pulled it. It helps that Todd Hodnett was calling my shots.

Recently decided to go the 7.62 route. After some consideration, I chose to go with a LaRue OBR.

However after holding an OBR at NRA 2011, I ordered a LaRue PredatAR 7.62. Mainly because it is lighter and I will probably never shoot it over 500yds.

I have held a LMT before, they are both excellent. Can't see how you could go wrong with either but for many reasons that go beyond just the rifle per se, LaRue was a no brainier for me.

AR10 Fan here. But that is a fine looking rifle you have there.

I owned an OBR Charliehorse, and have shot the LMT.

Either would make you happy, but the OBR is hands down the most accurate semi I have ever laid hands on. Period.

Not sure why, but it IS bolt gun accurate out to the ~675 I shot it. And I shot it quite a bit before selling and settling back into the APA converted LTR I bought from you.

How's that AI treating you?

If I was looking for a battle rifle, I'd do the LMT. If I was looking for an accurate shooter, I'd do the larue.

My LaRue was a 16" and it was an honest half moa 5 shot grouper.

It stayed well under MOA out to about 675. That was thorough testing.

SR-25 may be a DAMN fine .308 AR

But the damn thing costs way too much. The British bought the LMT, from a foreign gun maker that's a serious vote of confidence in LMT's ability to make VERY reliable and very accurate DMRs.

I ordered an OBR over the phone at the same time I placed the order for my Nightforce glass. Card never got charged and the rifle never materialized. Took it as a sign from God.

The 2010 International Sniper Competition and the winning rifles provide us with some insight into what today’s most talented snipers carry and shoot when they have a choice. The winners of the Service Class were SFC Chance Giannelli and SFC Ed Hoymeyer. Both men won with the LaRue OBR. Chance’s gun had a 16-inch barrel, and Ed’s had a 20-inch barrel. A USASOC headquarters team won the Open Class, and the spotter of that team also carried a LaRue OBR. Three out of the four winning rifles were LaRue OBRs. This is what we sometimes refer to as a "clue”. It seems the semiauto sniper rifle has quite a following.

In a USD 2.5 million deal the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) has contracted Law Enforcement International (LEI) to supply 440 LM7 semi-automatic rifles.

To be redesignated the L129A1, the gas-operated weapon carries a 20-round magazine, is 945 mm long and weighs 5 kg. It will be manufactured by Lewis Machine & Tool Company in the United States, with deliveries expected to begin in early 2010.

Both seem like great weapons, the LMT takes less dollars to own though.

Noveske N6 here (AR10). Works flawlessly, very accurate with USO glass.
I'm sure any Larue or LMT will do just as well with good glass and good maintenance.
