I want one. Just not that bad

I had an opportunity about 9-10 years ago to purchase one for $7k, in .308.

For some reason, I didn't. I can't remember why.

I kick myself for not buying it almost daily.

I think Walther only imported something like 7 of those rifles into the US and none were ever actually sold to distributors. I think all the rifles were originally snatched up by Walther US executives. Some have sold their rifles since. At least that is what I recall from reading about this rifle several years ago.

I always like using that rifle in Hitman

That's way overpriced. Hell you can get atleast a couple HK416's for that much, making them a bargain.

Only 176 made and of those only 15 in the US, I guess that would explain the price...

That doesn't compare to shotguns that go for $150,000.

I forget the story behind it, but a pawn shop in Bangor, ME had one on display for a while... the owner of the shop eventually sold it.

What's with the two mags? One just for storage?

Meh - if I'm going to drop serious coin it would be on a Purdey and Sons side by side.  I got to shoulder one in their showroom in London and with the exchange rate it was $138,000.

Or http://www.purdey.com/.  My uncle's boss has several and my aunt sells them.  If you buy one, she pops you some Dom, too.

There are a few rifle makers out there that have middle of the road models that will run you in the 40K range. I've handled rifles and shot shotguns that 40K wouldn't have hardly made the deposit.

I believe Hemmingway's double rifle just sold for over 500K.

Hell, if I had that kind of disposable income, I'd do it.

Yep, a walk through the Beretta showroom in Dallas will net you some 6 figure fine hand engraved over/unders.

At their showroom in Milan I saw €120,000 weapons. Meh. My taste runs to English guns anyway.

I assume you were on /k/ on 4 channel last night?

Walther's vp said he would let one go out of his collection for $75k, and he supposedly had 11 of the 15 in the United States, the other guy had 4/15.

What makes those guns worth that much cash? Other then someone willing to buy it...

The engraving? The name? The wood? The metal? All of those things? Do they really shoot any better?

They look so nice and cost so much I just could never bring myself to actually shoot it if I owned it.

Really? No I was actually on Socnet and came across it.

I coulda sworn someone was making WA2000 conversions for the Ruger 10/22.  I'd buy one, just for the looks.

Edit:  it is Ironwood Designs's SG2000 conversion.  Only $950.

Discussion topics (from there) propagate quickly to other firearm boards.  You see it in GD semi-frequently.  You can't beat them for Dem high resolution pictures of anything, they do much of the talking in lieu of words.

Rifle retailed for $9000 to $12000 in the 1980s

So what makes it a better rifle than a LaRue OBR? Doesn't look very rugged to me.

I'll gladly sell you my double rifle for a slight fraction of that! In a quite usable .30-06 caliber too!

That's a beautiful bullpup.

Of course, I'm a huge sucker for bullpups.

Rather fond of these two platforms:
