Trying to restore a Dell desktop with win7- but I can't get it to respond to the F8-
using a 'live' CD I can see that the 'C" drive is the recovery partition, and the OS is on "I"...

user said computer was running fine until yesterday, and it's only a year old.

Could the drive letters be causing the boot/restore issue??  (HD checks out OK in all the testing and the files are all visible when booting off a live CD or USB drive)

The live CD probably just named the drives something different than the OS on the hard drive.

I see a lot of new pc's set up that way. I change mine just out of habit, but it's pretty common from what I can tell.
