Wilsons if for no other reason than the customer support. If you have a problem with your pistol, they WILL make it right. Don't matter what they have to do, they'll make you 100% satisfied. And they will get the gun back to you within two weeks.
And Wilsons are very nice pistols. My 1996A2 is MUCH smoother than my friends Kimber CC Series I. It's also extremely accurate.
Kimbers DO NOT compare to Wilsons. Yes, Kimbers are very good guns for the money, but they don't have the polish of Wilsons. Besides, the new Kimbers are all Series II (firing pin safety), which may be a positive or negative depending on what you think of them. I personally don't want the firing pin safeties.
In fact, I just looked at the old Colt box that I kept from a 1911 of theirs. I sold it to buy my Wilsons. I don't regret getting the Wilson, but the box indicates the gun I sold was a Series 70 (no firing pin safety). Man, I wish I would've kept that Colt and just saved for another few months.... [>Q]
