I remember a few Canadians here saying they were ho-hum at best - about on par with the worst of AR-15s. Fun to shoot, usable, enjoyable but don't allow your life to rely on it.

While the American AR-15/M16 rifles are built in T70-74 aluminum, the Chinese Type CQ is built in T60-60 aluminum, used to allow the process of Metal Injection Molding to be used instead of forging.

american AR's cost a hell of a lot more up here. tend to start around 1300 and up.
I don't have a norc AR, but I've heard they're decent for fucking around with. We can only shoot them at the range anyways, so i'm sure they're fine for that. At least the chinese make a damn fine m14 for a quarter of the price of that springfield junk |

If I'm patient and keep my eyes open, I can put a kiss together out of the used market in the EE for about 500-450, but I'm talking Johny Cash style, not assemblies. |

eta: And MIM has got to be the shittiest method for making a metal product. You do not want to fly in an aircraft or drive in a vehicle that has critical parts made in this manner, yet alone shoot a rifle with receivers produced like that.. |

Listen up and don't be a schmoe. American ARs are very expensive here. They are expensive because of the crazy US export policies. And this can make it very expensive to import a US firearm. Believe it or not, it cost me $800 to import a Tactical Operations F-51 rifle. I wanted the gun so I paid Questar International their fee to import it. Anyway, back to the Chinese AR. I had a chance to examine one last year at the range. The receivers were forged and I was very surprised with the apparent quality. I took a look at the bolt carrier key and it was properly staked. The whole thing looked like a solid rifle; however, it had a goofy pistol grip. For the record, I do not own a Chinese AR. My AR is a frankenrifle that is made of Bushmaster, RRA, US GI and Stag Arms parts. Fluffy |

The metal fuses together at that point, but is only surface hardened (think case hardened). If the hardened surface is worn out, the exposed metal is subject to disintegration. MIM is pouring powder medal in a cast, and then heating it up so it melts. Lots of 1911 parts are made this way since it's hard to cast and machine some of the more intricate parts. |
