IDF cuts Gaza in half; raids West Bank
By THE JERUSALEM POST INTERNET STAFF

Israel cut the Gaza Strip in half on Wednesday, preventing Palestinians from traveling north to south. The IDF said that it did so in response to repeated attacks on Jewish settlements. The north-south road in Gaza has been blocked repeatedly in the past.

A suicide bomber whose explosives went off prematurely while he was on foot at a road junction outside the town of Jenin was killed today, the military said.

Military officials said the attacker was wearing an explosive belt and was armed with an automatic weapon.

A Palestinian, Musa Daraghmeh, 35, was shot dead at near the tunnel road on the edge of Bethlehem after a shouting match with soldiers, according to Palestinian witnesses and the man's cousin, Amer Daraghmeh. After the argument began, soldiers fired one warning shot in the air. The argument continued, and Daraghmeh was hit in the chest by a second shot, the witnesses said. The army said it was checking the report and declined to comment immediately.

Also in the West Bank, about 30 Israeli armored vehicles drove into the village of Salfit before dawn in an arrest raid.

In house-to-house searches, troops broke open some doors with explosives and arrested 13 members of the Palestinian security services, Palestinian officials said.

Another arrest raid was reported in the village of Burkin near the town of Jenin.

Palestinian officials said troops were looking for a member of the Islamic militant group Hamas, but did not find him.

IDF forces also arrested three brothers suspected of terrorist activity in the city of Hebron early Wednesday morning.

Since Israel's 'Operation Defensive Shield' ended, Israel has been carrying out almost daily raids in Palestinian controlled areas.

Oh, by the way, does anyone know any reason that the Palestinians might continue to harbor grudges against the Brits?

It surely can't be because they wholeheartedly support the Israelis now, because they don't!

So, what gives with anti-British feelings?

Didnt the Brits run the place in 47 when Israel was created?

Perhaps they think that the Brits should have exterminated the Jews for them.

Not to mention the Brits are helping you Yanks out in Afganland.

Perhpas because when the Brits "owned" the middle east they didn't see fit to give the Palestinians any property when they divided up all of the land.  Traditionaly, most of "Palestine" is in what is now Jordan.

Hmm...  you don't see the Palestinians making war with Jordan for occupying their territory.  I wonder why that is?

Gee, I'd been told that all the Palestinian hatred for the United States was based upon our current support of Israel.

And that if we would just stop assisting Israel now, all Americans could slither out of our bunkers and the Arabs/Muslims would let us live out our lives in the peace that subservient people always understand!

Now, you guys are telling me that it may not be that easy, that these guys will continue to hate and punish a nation long after its involvement has ended!

Well, which is it?

I want to be able to grovel in peace, you know!
