all the "country" kids around my area do it..lol country in central florida.
I lived in washington state so far out in BFE i had to drive an hour and a half to get to the nearest department store. Its just the cool "country" thing to do dont you know. my hooks work better on the end of fishing line

It's people who want everyone to know that they are the cool people who fish and is usually accompanied by Costa sunglasses, deck shoes and a fishing shirt worn year around even if they don't ever fish. It's just important to look like they do |

At our local MLB team's home game the gate nazis made a kid take his off his hat as it was a threat to safety.
For me its just sort of pride in your fishing. No different then a buck track on the back window of your truck.

I equate it to the douchenozzles who leave all the stickers and tags on their flat billed hats... I HATE those
While we're on the subject of hats, alot of bubbas here (south) will go buy artfully crafted "distressed" hats (the ones that look like they've been beat to shit but are clean as can be) and wear them around... both are lame imo |
