I do DEFINATELY feel blessed and fortunate to be born an American, non-insect/bovine/canine.

I guess I've just seen TOO MANY of these "greedy/rich/ugly American" threads. Granted, ugly Americans do exist (most of them visit Cancun annually) but as a whole, while being the most fortunate people in the world, Americans are ALSO the MOST caring, giving, sacrificial, sharing, responsive, charitable people in the world as well.

Looks like our "friend" Buddha lives in Liberal Lakes, MN.  I don't feel sorry or responsible for the other people of the world.  I am blessed to be born a natural citizen in the United States.  I have seen this message float around for a couple of years from various eurphorian types.  It is another attempt to show us how evil we are for being white and living in america.

As my daughter say "like who cares". Those stats can be manufactured in manner to make someone feel guilty, I don't. As long as I remember Life, Liberty, and the PURSUIT of those things that I can earn by the sweat of my brow the rest of the masses can take care of themselves.

Whoa, just got back and read the replies. I didn't mean to upset anyone's sensibilities. I opened the e-mail right after a bad conversation with a former girlfriend. Without going into a long-winded explanation of the feelings involved, the e-mail made me realize that in the great ocean of life, my concerns with her amount to about a drop. The timing of the e-mail was just right. It brought me some clarity and I thought I'd share it with this great forum. The numbers are interesting to me.

No one should feel guilty about living in the greatest nation on earth and having the good food and other great things that we have(such as that fine AR!). People need to quit whining and get to work!

When someone reads something like this, they bring into it a WHOLE lifetime of experience.

Mine has been that these types of circulating e-mails usually have an underlying message - that America is a greedy, abusive, consumer that adds little to the worlds well-being. You'll have to excuse me if i'm a little hypersensitive in defending the greatest nation on earth.

You can't ask someone to divorce a lifetime of experience in responding to these things.

I'm grateful for God's blessing in my life (including my native country) and "proud" of my own accomplishments. How that statistically falls into a comparison with the rest of the world, is informative, but little else for me.

I feel fortunate and very lucky. That's all I can say about this.

The article was nice.

I don't need "touchy, feely" things to make me appreciate how lucky I am.

That's the problem now days.  everthing is done to bring about an "emotional" feeling.  When emotion gets in the way of logical thinking, we lose.

I get enough of the "emotional" stories from the newsmedia, US Representatives, etc.

Give me the facts, I will then make up my mind.
