My orange guy "Bob" loves playing fetch, he will play non stop for an hour if I play along. It all started after bringing him home from the pound a little before Halloween. He brought me a piece of gum from the candy bowl and after a few times I realized he had saw me before getting candy and rolloing the wrappers up and that is what he wanted, "mouses". So now I have a never ending supply of 550 paracord mice he will flip over. Just wondered if he was the only one.

I taught mine to do it, she was 4 weeks old at the time. She still does it on occasion.

my grey tabi plays fetch with fake mice. no idea how he learned it but he does it just like a dog.

I've got a gray tabby that loves Nerf darts. He'll drop it in your hand. The problem is he wants to fetch all fukn night long.

My Yellow will roll ping pong balls back to me...

It's like playing catch with a small shild.. Sometimes she actually them with her paws.

My maine coon loves to catch her stuffed mice toys when I throw them in the air. Crazy reflexes that cat has.

had a cat that would play. she liked the bottle caps. she would play for a long time too. did not matter where you threw it, she'd find it, bring it back, drop it right in front of you and wait for the thing to be thrown again.

My cat likes to fetch plastic 2 liter soda bottle lids. I flick them across the hardwood floor with my finger and he hauls ass after it. I didn't teach him to do this.

My cat will sometimes bring her "silly squid" and make a bird noise when she wants to play. She may bring it back a few times, but unfortunately never fetch.

I did used to have a rat that would play basketball. Fucking awesome.

Yes, but only with the little white water bottle caps, like the deer park water bottles. You toss'em, she goes flying after them, pounces on them and brings them back to drop in your hand so you can toss it again. Weird cat in so many ways.

We have three cats. Two of them love to fetch. Sometimes they get hostile with each other after awhile, so I have to stop throwing the paper ball.

My girlfriend has too many cats and she plays with them all the time.

Yes he does. One day he was playing with his ball and pushed over to me. I picked up and threw it

and the game has been on ever since.

He brings me the ball when he is ready to play or when I ask for him to get it.

Fetch appeals to a cat's hunting instinct. They see it as game and get something to pounce upon. They return it because the owner is happy to throw it for them. This is unlike dogs who return with an object, but then will fight you for control over it.

No but my friend's cats are little thieves. If you leave a cigarette on the table and come back it will be gone. When you run out of smokes just look under the couch.

My oldest cat is a good guy. He brings me whatever he catches.

I put bird seed in the backyard to feed the sparrows, finches, and doves. He prefers the larger birds, so I have been the recipient of several doves the last few years.

I love that guy.

Holy crap. I thought I was the only one with cats that eat fruit.

My wife sits down to eat a peach, apricot, pear or anything, all three kittahs end up finishing it up for her.

I sure hope it isn't bad for them.

yup. always did it with bottle caps until she hit about age 9 or 10.. i would throw the plastic bottle cap and she would pick it up in her teeth and bring it back to me, shes a good cat, likes to lay around these days. 13 years old

Yep. Mine plays fetch with bottle caps, my wife's hair tIes, and fake mice (although he tried doing it with a real one once). His other favorite game is tug of war, and he growls rather than hisses. I swear he thinks he's a dog

. He also comes to get me to lift him up when a fly or other bug he wants is too high on the wall.

Mine will do it with wads of paper, but she has to be in the right mood. Its actually quite cute when she does it, as she has this funny little way of talking to me when she drops the paper back off with me.

Mine plays ball, and even gets excited to hear the word "ball". Her favorites are the rubber high bounce type balls, perfect size for her to pick up and carry back.

Meg, my parent's orange tabby, plays fetch. She likes milk jug cap seals and twisty ties. She also likes to lick ear wax. Tally, the black long haired cat loves to eat rubber bands and she will lick behind your ears if you let her. I always thought they were weird cats.

35+ yrs ago when my wife and I were dating she lived in an apt with a long hallway going from the bedroom to the kitchen. Her TV was in the bedroom so we spent most of our time laying on the bed watching TV ( and other activities). I'd make a small ball out of tinfoil and throw it out the bedroom door down into the kitchen. Her cat would run down the to kitchen and bring it back and drop it in front of me, sit and wait till I threw it again. Cat would keep it up until I got sick of throwing.

I adopted an adult cat about 6 months ago.

I tried to teach her to 'fetch'.

She's having none of it.

Instead, she taught me to feed her, and brush her, keep her litter box clean, and to always keep FRESH water in her bowl.

In many ways, she is smarter than I am: she taught me to fetch many things for her.

She is worth it.

Yes. Out of the 3 cats I have had, they all liked to play fetch. The lazy one I have now doesn't play fetch any more cuz she is older now.
I have never tried to teach them to fetch either.
