Looking to set up a messageboard and was wondering if anybody has any recommendations. I may be asking too much but I would prefer one with minimal (if none at all) pop-ups and the ability to sort subject matter by thread.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Thks

Here's the best free message board out there http://forum.snitz.com/.

It's all ASP and can connect to several different types of databases.  There are no pop-ups.  For the most part it works like the message boards here.  You can also customize the code, because it is written in ASP.

To see what I've done with it visit http://www.mcrgo.org/forums

if you want to go the open source roiuote, apache, php, and mysql provide a nice foundation for data driven websties. check out php nuke for the message board aspect.

Just a comment - I really liked your website SWIRE... Indiana should have something like that.

Keep up the good work!

http://www.webvelosix.com is another open source solution.  You would have to provide your own hardware however....
