Thats ashame, they really shoulda just broken in down into parts and taken it out of there to be properly rebuilt. Alot of time, money and waste of a treasure.

they would have been fine if someone would have taken the time to do a walk through of the plane and secured the generator.  really dumb losing a b-29 because of a fire when the generators gas tank fell onto the hot gen. and started to burn.

I don't understand why they couldn't pull the new engines off the carcass before it sinks to the bottom of the lake.  They could at least salvage parts from it.  Those engines alone, aren't cheap.  Unless it burned more completely than the video shows.

Thats what I was thinking the whole time, even with new engines it sat for 50+ years, and it looked like a fairly easy salvage job to take it out and restore it.
