Stop at wall mart and pick up an issue of coin world. It has the value of all the coins in the back. you can also look at all the dealer adds and see what they are selling certain coins for.

Google. It isn't likely that a "collection" like this will have anything with real numismatic value. Coinflation only shows you the melt value. Those old Morgans are worth way more than melt, even if they look like total junk.

Start out looking for key dates. Grade is everything with a collectable rare coin. Otherwise melt price for most "junk" silver coins.

At the current spot price (~$48) most places will be willing to pay you around 31.5 times the face value of the coins.
So if you bought in 10 silver dollars, you would get around $315 Apply the math as applicable. Just to be safe, even though you are sure that the 'good' coins are gone, check this page: http://www.numismedia.com/fmv/fmv.shtml Unless the coins are graded (accurately) just use the price in the first column (G4) You will see that more or less, the current rate is about where the collector value is sitting. If you find a coin that is way off (worth more) post more about it here - someone here can help you learn more about. |

This is a Morgan that I graded an MS-63... 
Here is a 1903 that would have been an outstanding specimen if some owner before me had left it the hell alone....unfortunately they took what was at least an AU coin, if not at least an MS-60 and buffed the obverse for God knows what reason...probably cleaning natural patena and tone off. As it stands today I grade this one AU details but cleaned (and that really hurts because the reverse is easily MS-64 quality)...
