Quoted: What's it retail for? This is an older one, but the new ones can be found from $5,700 - $9,000 depending on the model and retailer. Used they go for $2,100 -$2,600. |

I used to have a Submariner but sold it about seven years ago.
I also had a "Folex" (Fake Rolex) once. |
Quoted: I'll give you five bucks for it. I handed it to the watchmaker and he asked me how much I paid for it. After he took the back off, he said he'd give me $200.00 for it. |
So you got to say "I have a friend who knows about these...let me have him take a look at it."?
Epic! |
Quoted: nothing but the best second hand stuff for your girl huh? Too small for my wrist... The honeymoon is long over. As seasoned citizens we look forward to a bargain! ETA: As a side note, when I told Mrs. 1387Delta how much I could sell the watch for, she told me to sell it and buy a gun. |
I guess the pawn shop guys aren't as good as they think they are.
I know nothing about them.....but I'm curious why the shop was so sure it was fake?
wow, a blue moon and the planets aligning in front of a flock of pigs!

ETA: As a side note, when I told Mrs. 1387Delta how much I could sell the watch for, she told me to sell it and buy a gun. That is code for - I think its ugly and would never wear that thing. You did pretty good for yourself on that deal though. |
Quoted:
FAKE, I can tell by the pixels I seen that, what you done there |
Why would someone pass up making several thousand dollars? Not to say you didn't pay what you paid, and not to say its fake, but who in their mind would let something go like that? I can't even get one unless my boss makes at least 100 bucks on it.

Quoted: Are you sure it's not a Rorex? Positive. They tested the gold on it and it was real. I took it to a Rolex trainer watchmaker and he authenticated it. |
Quoted:
I bought a rolecks once Pft, I've got a Romex and a Manudo. |

I hope you understand that is code for "you bought me a rolex, buy as many guns as you want" |

I bought a rolecks once Pft, I've got a Romex and a Manudo. That garbage ain't got shit on the Britbling I bought in Iraq. |
I'm dubious, so a pawn shop owner sees "Rolex" and doesn't take it to the same local Rolex trained watchmaker you did to authenticated it? |
Quoted: I guess the pawn shop guys aren't as good as they think they are. Maybe they should have called an expert in. |

Quoted: I'm dubious, so a pawn shop owner sees "Rolex" and doesn't take it to the same local Rolex trained watchmaker you did to authenticated it? It's not the first time this has happened. Two years ago, I bought my Rolex DateJust two tone from them for $600.00 (Boxes, Papers, Hang Tags, Etc). It was a little beat up so I had it serviced and it looked like new. I keep falling into Rolex watches when I am looking for a JLC or Brietling. |
Wish I would just "fall into a Rolex".
One of those things I have always said I will own someday. Till then, my poor ass is stuck with a $15 Lorus from Target. |
Really nice find....for under a thousand you could easily have it refinished nicely.
Ought to make a nice keeper, or at least a quick turnaround profit. |
Quoted: Why would they do that? Friends. How do they work? The person that walked in off the street wouldn't have got that deal. And it was a fluke. |
i would never pay that for a watch, meybe a gun but hell no on a watch... who would really care if you had one?
Aren't you an LEO?
Did they just knowingly give you something of great value for just a little money? It sounds pretty suspicious. |

Quoted: i would never pay that for a watch, meybe a gun but hell no on a watch... who would really care if you had one? Because some people like watches? |

Damn, Im thinking fake. A few years ago I got three or four of them in Mexico for $13.00 each. But then im in a pissy mood tonight.
I hope its a real one. |

I think it's stolen, maybe the person was mugged.
Is there blood on it? |
What kind of pawn shop has $200 in what they thought was a fake Rolex?
Did they originally think it was real then get a bad opinion? |
