I was flying to visit a friend; he promised he would have a gun for me to carry, so I didn't have to travel with a pistol. He met me at the airport, and gave me a sock containing a S&W Model 37, loaded with only 4 rounds (all he could find): 2 158 LRN, 1 148 WC, 1 Speer shotshell. WTF? So, that's what I carried.

As far as sneaky, hard-to-detect weapons go, I like solidly-made, metal shishkebab grilling skewers. Do you know what I'm talking about? They're long, skinny, sharp, and hard to detect.
 <––-these aren't ideal (I like the square or round ones better for rigidity) but you get the idea. I poked a hole in the bottom of that extra pocket in a pair of Levi's and would let the skewer hang down through that.
I also keep some wooden ones around just in case. Besides that, I've carried switchblades, flick-knives, a straight razor I bought at a sketchy store in Shawnee, brass knuckles, a bike chain, thin wire wrapped around a couple of sticks, and various other improvised weapons. The weirdest things I've ever carried as emergency improvised weapons were a piece of very sharp flint of just the right size to be gripped in the hand and used and a Coke can that I tore into a long shred and "folded" into a knife-like weapon. |

Nah, you know the one I'm talking about, it's off to the side in a couple of pairs of Levi's "carpenter jeans" I had. Didn't bother me, anyway  You can fit 'em in the front pockets too, just... be careful, ya' know

Poor man's brass knuckles= Roll of dimes wrapped in electrical tape....... carried when I hit the bars in my youth. Wrist rocket slingshot with marbles for ammo. |

And this is why nobody ever messed with the drummers when I was in high school band. I remember one of the freshmen pushing his luck with a junior and getting a good thwack on the knuckles. His already fat fingers swelled up so much he couldn't play for two days. Amazingly I don't think any of his bones were broken. |
