For making bacon cheeseburgers.  Why dirty up a pan when the grill is already going?

Tried grilling it on the grates, wants to fall through and tends to get overdone.

Tried aluminum foil.  Better, but cooks really slow and the grease wants to build up, spill in one spot and flare up.

Any tips from the bacon connoisseurs?

I would at minimum have a fire extinguiser handy.

And a video camera.

ETA:  Cast Iron skillet.  You don't clean them.

Cook indirectly.  With foil under grate to catch grease and no coals under bacon but close enough for good heat.

mrs booniestomper cooks bacon on the grill all the time, line a pan with foil, ( for easy clean up) place on grill, cook, eat.  simple

It's usually wrapped around meat or corn when I cook it on the grill.  But, I have thrown a cast iron skillet on the grill to cook it up before.

I just grill it, but my BBQ has wide grates with only a small opening, I also go with indirect heat.

I use a cast iron griddle on mine, luckily no grease fire yet.

Get an herb veggie rack, got one I use for making jerky in the oven.

A fishing buddy of mine while camping threw a pound of bacon on the campfire grill for breakfast.  I swear the flames were three feet tall.  Tall enough it got everyone's attention around us in a crowded campground and we wound up with no bacon for breakfast.

Go to walmart, lowe's, home depot, target, etc. and they should have little wire mesh screens that work like the above with less metal and more heat getting through.  They're cheap, can be wiped off and reused, and do work pretty well for bacon and pretty much any vegetable that can fall through the grates.

Turn often so it does not stick.

Other than that I have no problem doing this.

Put in in a flat (jelly roll type) pan lined with Foil in the oven, then turn the oven to 400 degrees.  Cook until your desired texture....pour of the bacon grease and use it to cook with.    Don't waste in in the grill....do a couple of pounds, put it in a zip-lock when it's cooled, store in the refrigerator, then warm in the grill on top of the burgers when you need some....

Top rack over burgers so fat drips on burgers. Do it all the time, call it the left main special (for all you cath lab people out there)

I've tried it a few times.  No fire, it just gets "extra crispy" (read: inedible)
