It just occurred to me recently that I have only read one book for my own enjoyment since about 2001, and that was in 2007. I read plenty to educate myself but it is only with articles on the internet. Upon realizing this I kind of felt like a simpleton dipshit, so I went out and bought a trio of books from Borders. One being Lone Survivor which I am going to start reading as soon as I finish this post.

What about the rest of y'all?

I can't count how many I've read for fun in the last few years, but recently I have not had much time. Right now, I am reading "That Dark and Bloody River" and "The Road to Disunion: Secessionists at Bay." I'll probably read a Star Wars book after these are finished.

Read some today from a library book, I have gone through several books in the last month or so.

I have a very active library card. I'm thinking of joining the alumni association at my local university so I can have library privileges there, too.

Um, I think Pirate Latitudes by Michael Crichton back around Christmas 2009 for a 5 hour road trip. I've read books since but they were non-fiction instructional books, not entertainment.

I don't enjoy it too much. For a supposedly leisurely activity, the ratio of time spent:reward earned is too high.

I've been working on Infinite Jest since 2006. I'd just rather spend my time doing something else.

Right now it's 1984 by George Orwell. I usually make time before I go to sleep to read for a little bit, unless i'm up late from studying

I started The Third World War, August 1985 today. Sometimes I'll go a few months without reading a book and sometimes I'll read a few in one month, it just depends. I do seem to buy books a lot faster than I can read them, I've got stacks of them waiting to be read.

Finished a reread of Without Remorse about two weeks ago, no reading The Heights of Courage (Golan Heights). I alternate one guilty pleasure fiction book with one history/educational text.

I was bogged down for the past 12 months and could read anything for pure pleasure...I missed it.

I've read around 15 books since last Oct. I read a lot in the winter. Military history, adventure, outdoors/hunting/fishing. Not a fan on nonfiction, but sometimes it's okay.

I usually enjoy reading regardless of whether or not that is my primary motive in reading a book (usually the primary motive is educating myself). I've been a prodigious reader since I was 3 years old. The last book I read primarily for entertainment was Peter Capstick's Death in the Long Grass. I enjoyed it thoroughly. I read it many months ago, though. I've mainly been reading books on politics and philosophy lately.

I do not read for fun. Books are absolutely boring to read. Although I read very much, I've not found a book I couldn't put down. They're just so fucking boring.

I read every night at bedtime. I'm currently about half-way through Ryan's "A Bridge Too Far" (having finished "The Longest Day" the book before last). The previous book was Ambrose's "Undaunted Courage."

I typically read one genre at a time - currently it's history, last fall it was apocalyptic fiction, prior to that it was a bunch of John Ringo titles, etc.

I lament that the nearest Borders closed its doors. There's a Barnes and Noble, but for some reason, I found Borders easier to find what I was looking for. I occasionally use Amazon.

I flew to Guam last Sunday from Norfolk. I read Ken Follet's "World Without End" on the flights over. Much better than in flight movie projection that I couldn't really see.

I bought a Nook a year ago and have read probably 18 books since then. Before that, I'd read only the "good" gun books (Correia, Bracken, etc) when they came out.

I'm working my way through Homicide: a Year on the Killing Streets at the moment, then I'm going to read Game of Thrones.

Stephen Hunter's Dirty White Boys and I, Sniper, Book 12? of Jordan's Wheel of Time Series, Jack L. Chalker's Warriors of the Storm, and David Weber's The Excalibur Alternative.

So does my fiance.

We're often reading something, either together or by ourselves.

She likes to get 'romance' novels, which ramps her up to my benefit.

I don't read for enjoyment. Most fiction writers are either too unimaginative or so horrendously outlandish that I stop giving a shit about their story.

Those sumbitches make it onto the US I am going to go certifiably 100% U.S.D.A. Inspected Grade A Apeshit.

As for reading I do a great deal of it. I noticed that I had not read novels for enjoyment in years, but now that my children are old enough to only bother me once every 15 minutes I am rediscovering the joy of reading fiction.

The only books I tend to purchase, however, are non-fiction in a wide variety of subjects.
