Its a good film.
It really is. "The good thing about Vietnam is there was always somewhere to go. And there was always something to do. One day it started raining, and it didn't quite for four months." |
I can't stand the "RUN FOREST, RUN!" scene. I think if you removed that scene from the movie, it would be far better.

I knew an ex-Marine that volunteered for 4 tours in Viet Nam because it beat the hell out of going back home. He saw TV for the first time in his life while in boot camp.
He said that he and his fellow motor pool commandos entertained themselves by driving trucks through ambush sites and back again to see who could collect the most bullet holes. |

"We was like peas and carrots a-gain."
Good movie to explain to the kids that "effort" is often worth more in life than "talent". |

From what I heard, Tom Hanks based his accent on the actor who played the young Forrest Gump - who joined the army when he grew up.

Love it when Forrest beats the hell out of the hippy.
"Sorry I had a fight in the middle of your Black Panther party." |

"I'm sorry I had a fight in your Black Panther party"
It's great when he beats up Jenny's pinko, commie boyfriend, and the panthers let him. eta: DAMN! 8 seconds |

"We was like peas and carrots a-gain." That's a great part of the movie. I always get a little misty at their reunion at the mall. |
My favorite movie. It's entertaining without being crude and it's deep without being snobby.
They thought that movie was going to be a disaster. Instead, it turned into one of the greatest dramas in film history.
The scene on the bridge when he tells Jenny hes going to Viet Nam, that whole other country I always get a little misty when she tells him not to be a hero.
Yeah movie is great, I remember watching it as a kid when it came out, didn't catch half the parts till I watched again when I was much older. It's a VERY creative movie one of my favorites of all time.

Just finishing up the "running" bit –– and am realizing just how key the soundtrack is to this movie. Wow, the music is great!

Bubba: I was born with big gums, sir."
Lt. Dan: "Well, you better tuck that in. Gonna get that caught on a tripwire. " |
It was an interesting book, too.
Very different from the movie treatment. I liked them both, actually. |
Freaking baby boomer movie maaaan.
YEah yeah we get it. You watched elvis in the 50's, went to vietnam in the 60's, disco danced and got AIDS in the 70's and put a sweat band on your head and tried to stay fit in the 80's................................SHUT THE FUCK UP! |

Lieutenant Dan, ICE CREAM... Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile Dude, THANKS! That made me, literally, laugh out loud. I love that movie and to be honest, it's my all time favorite. Sometimes people ask me, knowing who I am, what my favorite movie is –– I tell them it's Forest Gump. Usually they are very surprised by it. Then they ask me why. I tell them, because it's a movie about a simple man who achieves much. It's not about who you are, but what you are. That shocks a lot of people. Dammit. Going to have to dig through the DVD pile and watch it now. "Have you found Jesus yet, Gump?" "I didn't know I was supposed to be look for him, Sir." |
Lt Dan: "Where you boys from in the world?."
Bubba/Gump: "Alabama, Sir!" Lt Dan: "You twins?" Gump: (long pause) "No... we are not relations, Sir." |

Hanks is a hardcore Liberal who donates massive amounts of money to just about every cause, group and politician who wants to eradicate Conservative ideals. You boyz keep pumping the money to him... |

I know I'll butcher the exact quote, but for me the misty-eyed part is when Jenny introduces him to his son for the first time and Gump says "is he smart or is he like m............." meaning to say "me."

Good movie, but I still say that The Shawshank Redemption was robbed of Best Picture.
It is one of those movies that you can start watching at any point and still enjoy it.
It would be one of the best movies of all time, if it wasn't for that lying son of a bitch Johnson.

I know I am a cynic but I loved that part for a whole other reason. Before that, He said the exact same thing I would have said in that situation...... for a different reason, Jenny - "His name's Forrest." Forrest- "Like me!" Jenny- "I named him after his daddy." Forrest- "He got a daddy named Forrest, too?" That line always makes me laugh! |

It's, at least, in my top 3 favorite movies of all time.
