You are an adult and never knew what an earwig is? Are they not as common in other areas of the US?
Because I could go spend five minutes in my backyard and coem back with a handful.

Earwig... from the Order Dermaptera.

Been around about 210 million years or so.... Completely harmless.

Cut it's head off with a table knife, gut it and deep fry it. The whole process is like deveining a shrimp. The results are tasty and nutritious. See if you can get a basket full of them.

Rest assured, there is at least one Coonass East of the Sabine river that has sprinkled some Tony Chacherie's on a scoop full of those and sauted them up in butter and garlic then spooned them out on a bed of rice. It was probably damn good too!
