"Minority Report." Due in theaters next month. The premise is that in the near future, technology is available that lets the Police see murders that are going to happen in the next 36 hours. Using the technology, they arrest people for crimes they haven't yet committed. Looks like an interesting movie. Tom Cruise is the lead, Steven Spielberg directed.

A couple of years ago in great britian it became legal for judges to jail people that they THINK will commit crimes. |

This movie seems to be right along the lines of "thought crimes". As someone already mention, in GB they can arrest you if they think you're going to commit a crime. Here in the U.S. we now have "hate crimes". Although a crime still has to take place to be charged with a hate crime, it's nothing more than a "thought crime". |

... What a brilliant concept! A world without murder. I'd absolutely support an idea like this. Not sure what their exact plan is but if it involves law abiding citizens carrying all the time I'd bet murder would be cut in half.
