more holy shit!  Purple boxes are active tornado warnings.  I read several of the warnings, and at least 3 are "tornado emergencies" , which are CONFIRMED Tornadoes that are considered extra dangerous.

See the little red box that's centered on Murfreesboro, TN?  That's where I'm sitting right now.  My girlfriend's family lives between Shelbyville, TN and Ardmore, AL, just a few miles from the JD Distillery.  Her family is in Lincoln County, JD is in Moore County.  Both of those counties were hit pretty hard this morning, as was Murfreesboro.

How many of those little tornado symbols are in the middle of that shot?

Also, why's DC Metro under a tornado watch right now when there's nothing near us?

TVS indicators? too many to count.  a TVS indicator isnt an automatic tornado, but it means the radar is seeing something that could be one.  Sometimes its a false data, sometimes its just funny winds, and sometimes its Dorothy's roof going flying.

Also, why's DC Metro under a tornado watch right now when there's nothing near us?

Checking now, but you know what a "watch" means?  It means your conditions are ripe for Tornados to form during the watch time.

Ok, there are good tstorms down in Orange county,VA, including an active tornado warning.

you're in an active tornado warning now.  This storm is a "Tornado Emergency", the worst possible situation.  ETA to impact is about 45 minutes.  If you look at the pics above, there's a track going straight to you right now.  The white line with crosses is the track line, each cross is 15 minutes based on current storm speed.

Yep, when I was in college there, I saw twin tornados that went directly over my apartment, and touched back down on 15th.  Screwed up several gas stations and a bank.  Me and the dog were in the closet wetting ourselves.  I walked out right after it went over and saw them.  Brrrwwhh, chills down my back just thinking about it.

Stay safe man, and Roll Tide.
