These fellows have 1:50,000 maps.

Eastern Mountain Sports puts out nice maps on Mylar. I use them here in the mountains with lots of snow and rain.

BTT....anyone?
I'm looking for full-sized maps that I can order. I called Eastern Mountain Sports and they said that the stores stock limited amounts of maps, but they don't sell them on their site. They recommended USGS. USGS maps come in 1:24,000, 1:25,000 and 1:63,360 scales, but not the 1:50K I'm looking for. Anyone? |

I hate it when they do this to me but, what do you need em for? I know you are unemployed, pissed at the world, and highly trained. I am nervous. [:D]

I want to practice land nav like I learned it in the Marine Corps. I can feel my skill getting rusty everytime I turn on my GPS. I haven't done any resection, intersection, etc in far too long.

I was the land nav pro at one time, kinda sucked though... everytime there was a land nav class to be had.... guess who ?? lol
Or getting asked to 'verify' someone elses course....[rolleyes] The last time I did it, (we ran in teams of 2 for safety) we ran into about 6 rattlesnakes [b]before[/b] the first point! [shock] Guy I was with steped on one of 'em (we were cruisin' thru knee high grass!) (He wasn't bit) and believe it or not, no one else saw any snakes that day!! hey, I also had a contact in the map dept at the USGS.... oh, sorry... little trip down memory lane there.. [:)] |

I found a company that will print custom maps at various scales, including 1:50,000 and 1:24,000 of any place with a USGS survey on file. They run about $10-15 each and can get them to you in a couple of days. The link is on my computer at work. Bump this topic tomorrow and I'll post it.

Jst buy the 1:25k USGS maps and cut the scale in half.
That is, if you can't find anything better. |
