I just got the latest edition of American Rifleman and notice they are offering a collectors edition AK-47. While it's nice to see an AK in the NRA magazine, the model they chose is the worst possible. It has the Romak stock, instead of a real pistol grip, and it looks like it can only accept single stack magazines. For $2,000 one would hope you could get an AK that would take a 30rd magazine or a 75 round drum.

That is about the ugliest thing I have ever seen. I like how the ad states that only fifty will be made for veterans, collectors and musuems. I seriously doubt that a lot of musuems are going to be ordering a chrome plated, ugly-a$$ AK-47.

guys...the mak-90 "vietnam war" edition was a thumbhole...but it least it was a hi-cap! this is a TEN ROUND CAPACITY LOW-CAP!!! a freakin' SINGLE STACK MAG ak!!!

the morons i send my nra dues to don't even have the brass to offer me a HI-CAP rifle for the low, low price of $1995? wth? they must be trying to reach out to the "borderline" pimps out there! sheesh!

a romak 991 was worth about $150, the last time i checked. all those stickers, decals and cnc engraving must be worth as much as the "textured" black paint over the wood.

and another thing...the add lies in stating it is "soviet military" wood. bullshit, sailor! it's romanian PLYWOOD. no self respecting soviet would be caught dead with a stick like that on his kalashnikov.

You would think they'd have the balls to put American "parts" count in there so pistol grip would be available. What kind of soldier would tote around a butthole stocked AK? With 10 round mag to boot?

That thing would look absolutely bitchin' hanging on the gunrack in the rear window of my Grand Torino...which...I might add...is pimped out with shag carpeting on the dash...fuzzy dice on the rearview mirror...

And let's not forget the leopard skin seat covers.

Hell, for that price I would just buy my own AK and have it chrome plated and engraved! But really, who would want such a piece of crap like that? That collector's piece contradicts everything the AK was supposed to be.....not pretty or fancy, but a crude, reliable and durable weapon. Something like that isn't intended to be used, so I really have no need for it. I'll take an SAR 1 anyday over that.
