'Metal Storm' weapons may replace Crusader

WASHINGTON, May 12 (UPI) -- A new ballistic technology that can fire burst rates in excess of one million rounds per minute from a 36-barrel weapon was one of the reasons Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld canceled the $11 billion Crusader artillery system.

The technology is known as "Metal Storm," which is also the name of the Australian research and development company that owns it.

Is the Crusader not a SP arty piece? If so why the hell would the "Metal Storm" replace Arty? It's just a hyper fast machine gun? Read the article in this months small arms review. It is neat though.

The metal storm system includes everything from pistols, rifles, wing mounted gun pods, mortars, grenade launchers and anti-aircraft/missile batteries.

yeah metal storm looks pretty bad ass theres a pic of it in SAR of it shooting something like 30k rounds in less then a sec
