Ross to Lead Second Amendment Task Force
Says Group Will Fight to Protect Second Amendment in Congress
March 17, 2011
Washington - U.S. Congressman Mike Ross of Prescott will serve as Co-Chair of the Second Amendment Task Force in the 112th Congress in the U.S. House of Representatives. Joined by his Republican Co-Chair U.S. Congressman Paul Broun of Georgia, Ross will lead the bipartisan coalition of House members who have pledged to defend the Second Amendment in Congress.
“The Second Amendment Task Force will monitor legislation throughout the 112th Congress that affects our Second Amendment rights and will provide a unified voice for gun-owning Americans across this country,” said Ross. “As a life member of the National Rifle Association and as Co-Chair of this Task Force, I will continue to lead the fight to oppose any and all efforts in Washington that restrict the right of law-abiding Americans to own and bear arms.”
Ross also serves as Co-Chair of the Congressional Sportsmen’s Caucus, a bipartisan group of House members and Senators that actively promotes, protects and advances the rights of hunters and anglers in the U.S. Congress. He has also introduced the Second Amendment Enforcement Act in the U.S. House of Representatives to strengthen Second Amendment rights for law-abiding citizens in Washington, D.C., arguing that if laws and regulations in the nation’s capital city are allowed to exist, then cities and states across the country could follow suit and pass the same laws.
“Our Second Amendment rights must be protected and every law-abiding American has the right to own and bear arms,” said Ross. “As a Representative from Arkansas and as the leader of the Task Force, I will continue to be a vocal defender of the Second Amendment and fight any and all efforts to strip law-abiding citizens of their constitutional rights to own and possess guns.”
The Second Amendment Task Force was created in the 111th Congress to monitor legislation regarding the Second Amendment in the U.S. House of Representatives. It includes both Democrats and Republicans from a wide spectrum of backgrounds and states all over the country. The Task Force serves as a unified and proactive force to promote legislation protecting the Second Amendment and to fight legislation that threatens Americans’ constitutional right to keep and bear arms.
