We're doomed! According to the libs, with that many shall-issue states, we will be drowning in all the blood flowing through the streets...

Hah Oregon was a shall issue state before Texas.

I'd say most citizens don't even realize how widespread right to carry is.

Gun rights groups are getting something done weather people believe it or not.

How did they update the 2011 map in April of 2010?  seems a little pre-emptive

Fuck the NRA, they drag their feet on CCW in state parks.  They've done nothing for us except CCW in 48 states and Heller and McDonald.

No shit.  If Chicago would only fall into the lake we would be set.

The NRA tried to fuck us on Mcdonald and Heller....then took credit for the 2nd Amendment Foundation's work.

That, and they had little to nothing to do with state CCW changes. They are only now coming around to people owning guns for anything besides hunting.

Try being yellow when everyone assumes you have CCW so you're completely off the radar.

We need a color between red and yellow....orange maybe, for those states that have May Issue, but don't.

MD and Delaware are the same color, but it's a big fucking difference between the 2.

That is not exactly true, I am familiar with their work in the mid to late 1990's as I was a volunteer with them. They did push CCW in some states, funded part of the MO CCW fight, but they wanted no part of Heller and only chimed in a me too with McDonald.

Why do they list AL as shall issue?

They were may issue when I lived there...

I believe they say "may issue" in order to keep black folks from carrying.

Laws don't go into affect the day they are passed.  Something passed in 2010 may not take affect until January 1, 2011.

The Wyoming law doesn't take affect until July:  NRA-ILA Note

Also, as stated above, Alabama is a "May Issue" state.  Here's something in work to change that:

Alabama Open Carry page

Alabama Self Protection Act

too bad it's on the wrong map.

AK and AZ have come a long way.

They went from no issue to UNRESTRICTED.

Major props to VT as well for being unrestricted the whole time.  Any idea when that policy was instated...or has it ALWAYS been there?

it is hard to understand but if you look back in the 1800s when some areas were still "territories" gun rights in some towns sucked.

The would ban guns when you came into town. And there was really no way to fight it , no NRA

The 2nd Amendment existed but today we seem to have at least in major cities more gun rights to carry

Werd.

Delaware might as well be striped half blue.  They just enacted reciprocity with Vriginia, and there's nothing in the law to prohibit a resident of DE from using a nonresident permit from a shall-issue state (in their case, FL and now VA being the most common with low application fees and reciprocity agreements).

The downside to that is, DE is going to stay exactly like they are for some time because the end-around is easy enough that there's no cause for much of a fight from the residents.

As for the SAF, they do great work (and I'm a supporter myself) but I still can't help feeling a bit let down when they gave up on us.  I thought they had a solid case, though I'm not a lawyer.
I know there are bigger fish to fry before we get to MD's entrenched bureaucratic corruption, but still, I'd like to see this state turn around, by choice or by court ruling.
