Does anything really come to mind since they've been sworn in?

I guess deadlock is better then the alternative.

Some of what they do doesn't get noticed.  But....not much.

For starters, they were sworn in in January; you need to change your thread title.

How the fuck are they supposed to do anything with only the house in their control?

What were you expecting? The GOP took the house and a few governors slots. Dems still hold the Senate and an aspiring authoritarian in the White House. Very few states experienced major shifts in the state legislatures.

Scott Walker came out ahead in Wisconsin, but I wouldn't say anybody "won" there.

2010 wasn't the win a lot of people made it out to be.

Imagine how awesome this country would be if near total gridlock was in place since 1900.

Midterm elections date is what is meant by the thread title.

And I understand that they only have the house but have they really done anything that says "We are doing what we promised."

The house passed a bill that nullifies Obama care.

They are currently deadlocked with the commies on the budget.

Most were elected on the premise that they would de-fund Obamacare.  The House is all that is needed.

They didnt allow a BS budget to pass that would increase our debt.

They are standing as a roadblock to the democrat party's plot to destroy the deficit.... wait, it's already destroyed.....
The repub House is standing as a roadblock to reduce the being conducted on the destroyed federal deficit.
To be clear, the horse is the Constitution and/or the federal deficit.  The smilies are the democrats and what they are doing to both.  The Republicans in the House are trying to stop it or at least reduce the pain.

Freaking this.  They are doing their job of acting as a roadblock to further liberal BS.

If they did anything else positive, I would consider it a bonus.

I understand that November was when the elections were...the fact remains that they weren't sworn in til January.

Here we go with the retarded "There isn't a dimes worth of difference BS" again.

The fact that so many in GD don't understand how our system of gubment operates has always been a sore spot with me.

I expected more from our educational system.

You would have to be flat out retarded to think that the republican party is working for your best interests

How are we conservatives any different from the people on DU?

We listen to the empty speeches, then cheer as the country is strip-mined out from under us.

Gridlock is about it....

Can't get a whole lot done by just controlling 1/3 of the political structure.

Our educational system is full of union teachers, who don't give a damn about anything but their retirement and healthcare.  The fact that the House and Senate can't agree on a budget, means eventually the non-essential part of  .gov will shut down.  How anyone can find fault with is is beyond me.

It's early, only 1/3 of gov is not run by liberals.
That said, take a look at the states which had changes. Wisconsin, Tenn, Ohio, Michigan to name a few - all of them have angry lib's and union's out in full force wanting to stem the hope and change that came about in November.

They kept a magazine limit Bill from going forward.

And, had that gone forward, I guarantee you we would have seen another AWB proposed.

Grassley is conducting an investigation on ATF's selling THOUSANDS of guns to Mexico's illegals.

Plus, as has been stated, they control only the House.

Despite that very serious fact, they are trying hard to reduce spending.

NPR is up for defunding.

Wait a bit more........I'll think of more stuff.

They're making it known they do not like the EPA as it is currently being operated.

They're making it known that nuclear power should not be taken off the table.

They're making it known that they want domestic oil drilling/extraction to be pursued much more than it is now.

More serious consideration is being made to reform the ATF.

They voted to repeal Obamacare.

Ahh contraire, it is because WE DO UNDERSTAND how our current system of government works that there are so many complaints.

Wow..

What did you expect them to do with only the control in the house?

Were you expecting Mark Rubio to lead a gang of Reps up the to the White House where they would plant the flag of freedom into the chest of BO, Iwo Jima Style?

They control half of one third of our government.

At the best, Gridlock is what we will get.  But to say they aren't doing anything is just silly.

Apparently you didn't get any Civics education. 'Deadlock' is about all the 112th Congress CAN do, with a Socialist Senate and marxist President. And that's enough, given what was going on under Pelosi's reign.

About the only other thing the GOP-run House can do is run some congressional hearings / inquisitions and pry into the doings of the Marxist-in-Chief and his fucked up cabinet / czars.

They are doing the one thing that is most important-preventing the socialists from doing anything. They are acting as a roadblock and are not backing down-they are attempting to do everything they said they would.

Hopefully, Rs get control of the Senate next year and, with any luck, the presidency. That is when they will have their chance..if they do nada..it will be the final proof the masses need to show that both parties are basically worthless.
