The studio has decided that for fear of alienating Chinese movie goers and investors they will digitally re-master and alter the movie so that North Korea and not China will be the invader. All I have to say if you have got to be fucking kidding me. The fact that we are bending over backwards to not portray the PRC as what they are, our biggest rival and enemy in the 21st century, is asinine.

It's as if in the middle of the cold war, for fear of upsetting the Russians, we made movies where the Soviet client states and not the Soviets themselves were the enemy. (It's not a perfect analogy, I'm not implying that North Korea is a client/satellite state of china the way the former Warsaw block was to the USSR. I'm cognizant that things that the North Korea/PRC relationship is more complicated then that)

Edited to add, the publishers of Homefront insisted on a similar switch between the PRC as the enemy to North Korea.

The remake quite simply looks like it's going to be stupid.  The scenario they originally had wasn't exactly great to begin with.  I know Milius wouldn't have succumbed to this PC bullshit.

IMO to be kind of realistic the invasion would have to take place in Alaska or one of the territories we have in the Western Pacific and not CONUS.  Even if the ChiComs went to war with us they wouldn't even try to invade CONUS.  They aren't that stupid nor are they suicidal.  A huge amount of things would have to go horribly wrong before the ChiComs, especially if they are acting by themselves, could even have a shot at such a thing.  The idea they would do it over the debt owed to them is pretty stupid.  The ChiComs for the most part want us to come to them not vice versa.

And in the original the client states fought alongside and sometimes led the way for the Soviets.

Just the fact that they need to choose a "safe" villain for this movie proves how far off they'll be in it's production. A PC version of Red Dawn? Why even bother?

We won't dare to actually put Muslims as the real enemy in the movies or games. So, it's safer to pick on the Asians (non-Muslims types only) since they don't have CAIR stuffed with lawyers.

Eh, Muslims and/or our own politicians are our own worst enemies right now.

The modern-day Red Dawn would have us stooping to stoopid levels of PC, finding the citizens unarmed & sold out to socialism by self-serving politicians in their lust for power.  Then some sort of catalyst event where the last remnants of freedom go tits up.

I predict that (in the movie) any armed American Citizen will be portrayed as a bumbling, inbred, racist who will be quickly and easily dealt with by the "NK professhunals". It will be a spunky, welfare mom who will "MacGyver" together some save the day counter measure that forces the aggressors to lay down their weapons and start building free child day-care facilities. It will be revealed (while our hero bangs one of the reluctant invaders) that they only came here because America is such a rich nation yet refused to "spread the wealth" to the rest of the World.

First, Red Dawn. I think the ass kissing to ensure political correctness having leaked over into a survivalist genre is sick..We cannot even
have an enemy nowadays because the fear of hurting feelings..Hell, we have to shoot RPG's at someone while foraging for
Beef Raccoon Jerky and Olives captured by the invading hordes..

This is why I strongly believe, VERY soon, the only groups which it will be socially/politically acceptable to wage a no rules, guerrilla warfare upon, will be strictly limited to those who subscribe to similar belief of Freedom as Tea Party Members, Evangelical Christians and God Himself..Or any group consisting of those who subscribe to a morally, ethically and "Just" way of life.

This above group will be seen as undesirables and will be hunted down and "quelled" and "silenced" by the World Union and It's "Citizens" which will include even those who reside physically within the United States and also abroad, who subscribe to a radically fueled far-left Liberalism and those who either subscribe to or are outspoken and long standing members of the worlds ONLY well protected and government sanctioned religion, who will be backed and funded politically, socially, financially, militarily by those who consider themselves as "Non-Deist"or those who are self promoting members, in fact, of their own religion of Nontheism..Or the religion of only "ONE"

China is not our Arch Nemesis..They are our social and political model for the future society of the United States, Especially from
those in power currently.

There have been and are currently certain members of our own government, past and present, who have looked toward China and other communist nations for inspiration in leadership roles and models of social order and working governments paradigms for the future..

Simply, because the concepts of Martial Law, rules of restoring social order under catastrophic events, namely for safety, peace and as well as continued Security for the Homeland, are largely within the "Conspiracy Networks" does not remove "hints" which may be factual information gleaned through investigational methods.

Some of which could be implemented on the people of the United States in the future or maybe it already has been put into effect but it has gone unnoticed because of smoke and mirrors...Quick, Look over there!

I thought they never finished it anyway? Didn't they pull the plug on this during the bank crisis when the movie was only 80% finished?
Who knows.  The best thing that could happen is that this version die, and we await a real director who will make a new red dawn worthy of the return of Chrsit.

They are chasing the dollar. Chinese box office represent a significant amount of dollars.

By making them N. Korean, you don't offend the Chinese patrons and probably gain more favor with folks in countries like S. Korea, Japan, Australia etc.

We have to face it, big movies made today are targeted for the world audience, not American. This is the reason GI Joe was no longer droped the "American" hero bit and became that bastardized global initiative unit.

I completely agree. I can't see anyone making a decent Red Dawn remake in today's political climate. If John Milius was doing it now it'd either be a band of crazed Taliban paratroopers (hey it's not like the first one was realistic) instituting Sharia Law in some little midwest town, or it'd be BATF agents assisted by UN stormtroopers rounding up guys from the membership lists of local gun clubs.

The funny thing with sequels is I generally fall for the hype that it is going to be as awesome as the first one.  Then it ends up being "meh".  When the hype about a sequal is that it is going to blow goats and THEN I read the possible storyline and it sounds gayer than hell, well, consider me disgusted.  Their is no way it is going to be a gem in the annals of sequels.

Movies are no longer made for the American public. They are made for the global audience and there are over a billion people in China who love American movies. If China is the booger man, the commie mind controllers won't allow it to be released to one sixth of the worlds population. Studio execs will not allow that to happen.

Edit;
I don't care who the bad guy is, I won't be seeing the piece of shit. If it isn't Millius, it isn't Red Dawn.

It was in post production when it was shelved.  There were some rumors going around that finaciers of a certain ethnic background had influenced the lack of funding due to way it cast China is a negative light.  With the new turn of events it looks like they may have been right...

they do, but often less than the international market. Case and point-that abortion 2012 movie made $166 million in the US and something like $600+ million overseas. Studios aren't going to ignore that type of revenue stream. If it has lots of explosions and isn't too pro-american, it'll sell overseas.

I got a better idea, we get invaded by euro-fags!
They round up people, put them in camps and make them listen to techno music and take eXtacy.
It's called a work camp but we don't actually have to work, we get checks cheques of free money and retire from the camp at 30.
They force you to watch Soccar Football matches on a large 50 foot 15.2 meter television screen.

But five kids from West Virginia have escaped to the mountains and now one of them sees his father in the camp. His hair has been dyed black and he's got black nail polish as well.

what have they done to ya pop???
OH! This is nothing! They turned uncle Billybob into a French-Morrocan Hip hop wanna be taxi driver!! You ever listen to Rap music in French?????
