My girlfriend of all people told me that pms is mostly a myth, and an excuse for women to just get bitchy and difficult because society (womens lib types) has filled their head with the idea.
Hoever pms symptoms do make some women bitches, but only like 5 percent apperently. Learned something new today...... |

My wife suffers from horrendous hot flashes. I don't think its a myth.

All I'll say is just because I occasionally suffer from PMS I see no reason to inflict that suffering on those around me. |

Was she sharpening knives and staring at your crotch when she said it?

Your girlfriend is correct. The anti-civilization women's lib horse-shit has convinced everyone that being a woman is some kind of mental illness. Unfortunately, in female-dominated societies like the USA, mental illness among females is among the highest on earth.
There is a huge diff between women raised with strong, manly fathers and those biotches raised either fatherless or weakling, limp-wristed father. Many studies have suggested that the majority of PMS "symptoms" are psycho-somatic. Not 100% of them, like breast tenderness and bloating, but the emotional or "bitchy" ones, she's exactly correct in her interpretation. Also interesting to me that a woman is standing up for the right thing. Seems to be that women are America's last chance, (Palin, Brewer, Schlafly, etc). |

It's not a myth.
When I was in my teens and 20's I did not believe in pms because I didn't have it. It comes in your 30's. For sure. |
I'd sure be pissed and bitchy if I bled like a guttted hog for one week each month...myth or not...

Hormones are an evil affliction.. Bubbles is correct, that suffering does not need to be inflicted upon others.. Sometimes though, shit happens..
Not a myth. My first wife turned into a total bitch when she was having her period. I would always nail her for it when she was bitchy and I would say "you're having your period, right?" I was right every time.

I'll bet it's a real issue for some and I'll bet there are a lot of selfish people who take advantage of it and use it to justify treating people like crap. |
Just like everything else in life...
Some women are affected by it more than others. |
PMS is not a myth. They feel like shit during it and if they aint happy, we aint happy.
And Menopause is PMS that doesn't go away in 7 days. |
My wife says the same thing as the OP.....not feeling well is not an excuse to treat people like crap...especially your spouse. Imagine men being granted a time of the month where because they feel sick they get to be short tempered, demanding, angry and irritable toward their wives it would end very, very quickly!
She gets minor to moderate headaches during that time but has never taken it out on me or our son.....we've been married 17 years. |
You could not be more wrong! Why won't you just listen to me? You never listen to me!!! You don't even care about me!!!
I have raised three daughters. It is most certainly not a myth.
I believe that. I've never really noticed a monthly pattern in bitchiness with all the women I've worked with over the years.
It's no myth at my house. Trying telling that to her face. Especially during "that time".

I dated a Japanese girl for three years in college. Back then (20 years ago) Japanese women didn't even have a word for such a thing, nor had she heard of the phenomena of PMS. I won't say that her mood never changed, but she absolutely didn't make a stage drama out of it.
I have heard that other foreign countries less removed from us than Japan are the same way. It is mostly an American invention. |

My wife had a hysterectomy three years ago and that stuff is exactly the same as it was before she had it. Women do this to get attention from American men that refuse to fall all over themselves to make them feel like Queens. Blame it on Hollywood, most women think that relationships are supposed to be like they are in movies and on television. |

Girlfriend doesn't have mood swings or anything while she's on her period. I just got lucky.
My wife becomes a whole other person for a few days a month. I have learned to bring dinner home and hide in the basement till her hormones work their issues out! No myth in my life!
