As much as I'm enjoying having elk in the freezer to cook, I don't know what to do with the roast.

I have a ~6 pound elk roast in the freezer, that just says 'roast'. I don't know which part of the elk it came from.

Give me some ideas for cooking it.

For most wild game roast you'd want long, moist cooking.

Covered baking such as pot roast would be a good option.

You might be able to get away with steaking it by cutting around the bone.  Bring it to room temperature then cook very quickly at high heat no more than medium done.

Or you could get it to that point of frozen that allows very thin slicing and stir-fry or make pho.  Also good for sandwiches that way.

When in doubt cube it and make Kabobs.

last time i did one, i made chili and shoved the roast down into the middle it.
so the roast cooks, and is flavorful, and you also have chili too.

but i cook large portions so i have food for the whole week.

elk roast and chili is great though.
