Of course. Now, get rid of Missouri and we'd probably be one of the healthier nations in the world.

That is kind of interesting. They've factored in the explanations you might look at first.

I wonder if there are a number of smaller differences. Maybe things like skin cancer are more prevalent here. Or other environmental risks. I also checked smoking rates and they are pretty much the same. Interestingly enough, the smoking rate for both countries dropped to around 20% in the 2004-2007 time frame and have stabilized there.

Well, I'd definitely say if visits to the doctor were 'free', we would probably do it more.  Hell, I've been thinking about going to see an allergist again to get a script for some better meds than the OTC shit... but then I have to pay an out of pocket fee for the visit, and then pay something for the prescription.

The article said that kind of thing was accounted for.

I also wonder if they factored OUT (for the sake of honest statistical analysis) different genetic predispositions of ethnic groups that lead to health problems that can't be helped.

Oh and the answer to my question would be, NO.

America has 40 MILLION people with no health insurance.

EVERYONE in England has health insurance.

So, it's pretty damn OBVIOUS just WHY the people in England are healthier.

Also, more than 20% of children in the USA now live below the poverty line....and the percentage is increasing, NOT decreasing, like the LIARS that keep saying the economy is getting 'better'.

Many of them live with working parents that earn enough so they DON'T qualify for Medicaid, food stamps, or other .gov help.

Leftist Propaganda to promote Universal Health by Government in the USA..

if smoking, alcohol consumption, eating high fat diets and bad dental care relate to bad overall health.then it should be true in GB as in the USA
considering the large population ot Indians and Pakistanies in GB as well, with a higher than average rate of heart attacks according to another study, it also says BS..

not buying it.

When I hear commies talking about how great their numbers are I'm reminded of the suicide statistics from east germany in the movie "the lives of others".

How exactly is it FREE when you pay higher taxes for it.  The only difference is insurance companies are not allowed to rape you on the way to the doctor's office.

It's free when you let all those 'rich' people making over $50,000 pay higher taxes for it.

Our culture and history is a bit different than that article lets on to be. Our minority demographics is way different than GB and it just happens that those population differences also experience a much higher rates of diabetes, and cardiovascular disease like high cholesterol and heart disease vs. white population.

I'd want to see how they determined that it wasn't a factor, but I still wouldn't discount our lifestyle differences would play a huge role as well.

How about some truth for a change.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1211950/Premature-baby-left-die-doctors-mother-gives-birth-just-days-22-week-care-limit.html

Doctors left a premature baby to die because he was born two days too early, his devastated mother claimed yesterday.

Sarah
Capewell begged them to save her tiny son, who was born just 21 weeks
and five days into her pregnancy  -  almost four months early.

They
ignored her pleas and allegedly told her they were following national
guidelines that babies born before 22 weeks should not be given medical
treatment.

Honestly, I don't care how healthy Americans are vs. anyone else.  How someone lives is none of anyone's fucking business. What I care about is tyrannical government tell us how to live and deciding who lives and who dies without giving us any choice.

Maybe so, but what does that have to do with the original story about Britain's being healthier than Americans?

Me think it's nothing more than tit for tat

Being in denial doesn't mean going for a swim in an Egyptian river

In fairness, the article is trying to compare the health of one country vs. another and infant mortality is a commonly used benchmark in those type of comparisons (along with comparing different countries health care policies.)

And IIRC, Britain (along with many other countries) does not count that as a infant mortality...kinda bolsters their numbers doesn't it.
