from Yahoo News

The closer two appear to be about 3/4 scale when compared to the three in the background.

Is it just me??

Duh - no, mattja - I've never heard of that.

Do you understand what perspective IS, mattja?

The target you're looking at through your peep isn't really the width of your front sight post - it just LOOKS that way because it is further away from your eye.

Objects that are FURTHER away look SMALLER.

NOT BIGGER - like the three men who are FARTHER away in the pic.

Good try at flaming me - better luck next time.

Hmmm, it does seem that the ones in front should be the larger. It may just be an optical effect produced by that particular lens.

It's just the joy of a telephoto lens.  The guys are all so far away that the diffeence between the front & rear guys isn't enough to make them look bigger/smaller.  Your brain expecting the front guys to look bigger and not geting it, makes them seem smaller.  Optical illusion, IOW.

The problem that I see is that the soldier in the foreground is wearing a pair of cheap, Chinese-made boots from K-Mart. [:)]

My point exactly.  The group isn't that far aprt from each other and the camera is looking down at them.  Also I bet the fact the guy's wearing a skirt so you can't see his legs makes him look like hes hovering

I thought you meant that the soldier in front looks like Goofy in an IDF uniform.

On my screen, The soldier in the front is 3 inches and 5/8 and the rabby in the back is 3 inches and 1/8.  Everything looks ok to me !!!

Tate, I just don't see it... The perspective is from a pretty high angle, skewing the heights of the men with the distances between them.  The size difference is minimal since the people are not more than a few yards from one another, the men in the background not appearing larger, just taller, because of the camera's height.

Don't ever become a pilot, OK? [;)]
