My daughter's class is making an end of the school year "care package" for some local National Guardsmen who are currently serving overseas.

One groups is in charge of images. One group is in charge of purchasing small tokens for each of the guards, and my daughter's group is in charge of gathering stories, poems, anything text in form that can be reproduced for a notebook form booklet of inspiration.

When I got home from work, my kid was crying and trying to surf the net. So, we're here together trying to get some quick inspiration from the experts. I told her that if anyone would know where to find it ... you all would.

Don't let me down, guys.

And Marissa says hello. She said that you need to post some pictures of your kids with guns, too, so the guardmen can see that a new generation of "heroes" is up and coming. :)

I love my kid. :)

I Will Always Remember You (by Gini Stern)

You were born in California
New York and Tennessee
You are every generations hope
of all that we can be
All this land between the oceans
Is the home that you defend
You're my mother, you're my daughter
My sister, my friend

No one ever had to ask you
It seemed you always knew
Standing up for what is right
Is all that you could do
Not one to look the other way
You choose to serve with pride
And dared to cross the boundaries
Knowing God was on your side

And I will always remember you
For you remembered me.
Always there when I needed you
Always there protecting my freedom
How could I ever forget you
You, who always came through
For duty, honor, country
I will always remember you

How you taught us strength and courage
And the will to never fail
And that through our every conflict
Somehow triumph would prevail
You made your peace with history
And stand among the brave
No more the unsung hero
For you our banners wave

And I will always remember you
For you remembered me
Always there when I needed you
Always there protecting my freedom
How could I ever forget you
You, who always came through
For duty, honor, country
I will always remember you

Good stuff!

Tell your daughter thank you.

I am currently on Title 10 federalization down in Arizona assisting the Arizona HIDTA (Counter-Drug Ops). I was assisting US Customs down on the boarder but they HIDTA needed some help so I volunteered.

Anyway at the end of the month I am off to the Dugway Proving Grounds to augment the security forces there.

Anyhow I prolly won't go overseas (I am a red leg) but I do know what its like to get care packages from "Home" and I am sure those soldiers will appreciate the thought and care going into that box.
