Its so much easier to understand Nuremburg if you realize the blame got passed upward. true again in this case, which is a comforting reminder that the Germans are still beneath us.

In all seriousness, how do you prevent random acts of violence? Could the WTC/Pentagon attacks or Dunblane Massacre in England have been prevented? Of course with 20/20 hindsight that is possible. Should've, could've, would've. What it boils down to, there are no sure things in life, except for death & taxes.

Huh? I think those are japanese. Where do you find that stuff to begin with? To figure out how Germans feel once they are settled here, watch Independence Day and The Patriot, both directed by a guy who came from over there.

As far as I can tell, it's somewhat like "Screw you and that stick up your butt, I like it here, I'm staying, you'll never get me back, bwhahahaha."

Horst: [threatingly] We Germans aren't all smiles und sunshine.
Burns: [recoils in mock horror] Oooh, the Germans are mad at me. I'm so scared! Oooh, the Germans!
[hiding behind Smithers] Uh oh, the Germans are going to get me!
Horst: Stop it!
Man 2: Stop, sir.
Burns: Don't let the Germans come after me.
Oh no, the Germans are coming after me.
Man 2: Please stop the `pretending you are scared' game, please.
Horst: Stop it! Stop it!
Burns: [brief pause, then resumes] No! They're so big and strong!
Man 2: Stop it.
Horst: Stop it, Mr. Burns.
Man 2: Please stop pretending you are scared of us, please, now.
Burns: Oh, protect me from the Germans! The Germans...
Horst: Burns, STOP IT!

It made me sick when one of the German adults made a reference to "American-style violence.

Remember when that Japanese cult loosed poisonous gas into the Tokya subway?  I suppose releasing poisonous gas into an enclosed area counts as "German-style" violence.

Make me want to watch Die Hard again.

"Germany-style violence" would entail a more civilized act by the gov't (Ahem: For the children), declaring certain classes (You decide which) "invalid" &/or "undesirable", then quietly, discretely,...hol zem away to zee uvenz to clens da mudorlund.[(:)]

Germany's hyper-strict gun laws are the US' fault. Maybe if we feed Boxer, Sweinstein, & Davis to them, they'll call off the BS brigade.[(:)]

It sounds like a bunch of BS to me. I work in the video game biz. Number one, any video game headed for Germany has almost all of the gore taken out. Some violent games are straight out banned if they can't be toned down to meet their censorship standard.

In a video game that I worked on, the German localization had all the blood changed to green and minimalized 80%. And these were dinosaurs. If I remember correctly, the German version of Return to Castle Wolfentstein had all of the Nazi symbols and references removed, all the gibs were gone and the blood was also turned to green. I think the enemy soldiers became andriods.

Scapegoating!

Let's blame the Germans for making HK, Sig and Glock that caused all the shootings in the US, not to mention bad rap lyrics.

Sig is a Swiss company, but export guns are made in Germany.  Glock is Austrian, but really they are just Germans who haven't got a clue yet.

I think the confusion stems from your spelling the term as "shizen", when (I ass-ume) you're referring to "scheisse" movies (the ones where they shit all over each other).  I didn't realize they were for real -- the only reference I've seen to them was in an episode of "South Park". [puke]

Uggh!  This would be a fair deal.  I was in Ireland for an overseas study program back in 1990.  I was flipping though cable TV at 1 in the a.m. and saw about 10 minutes of one of these movies.  VERY SICK!

Not to be too picky, Kar, but please don't fall for that leftist gibberish about who's a conservative and who isn't. The CDU/CSU are slightly left of center on damn near all issues. Besides, I really don't think that someone from the ehemalige DDR is really conservative no matter what party he belongs to.

I suppose it would be too obvious and make way too much sense to hold the shooter responsible for his actions? Yeah, I thought so...

Of course you can't prevent random violence in an open society... but an armed response can stop it from continuing and minimize the damage.  Ever notice how the victims are never in a position to shoot back? That's by design...

I am aware of that. "Conservative" is their self-definition, but in reality there's not really much difference between the CDU/CSU and the SPD/PDS.

Yes, that makes too much sense for them.  Plus, if they did that, then they would also have to admit that their blood and kin are responsible for what the Nazis did.  The problem is, they would rather deny any real problem exists, so they ignore it until it comes back to bite them in the ass, then they blame it on someone else.  That's the same reason the Nazis were able to come to power and commit mass genocide - because the German public was more comfortable pulling the wool over their eyes and pretending it wasn't happening.

I thought most of the so-called "violent" video games came from Japan...

hmmm... why can't people take responsibility for their own actions!!! people love to blame games, music, and movies, claiming it influenced them to do things! BS!

Actually, it's a lot more complicated than that. But, suffice to say, however you guys think of today's Germans in comparison with WWII Germans, they are entirely different. Even the neo-nazis have very little in common withe the original Nazis. Todays German is almost undifferentiated from any other socialist leaning European. Except they make better Beer than most.
