Here in the St. Louis, Missouri area, under a blizzard warning, ice everywhere. My company shut down today.

Who else is enjoying a snow day?

It's snowing here but I have Monday and Tuesday off anyway.

Poll skewed.  People AT work have less of an opportunity to sit around and surf AR15.com.  But, yeah, I teach and have the day off.  Generally I don't like snow days but today it's nice because it is my son's 5th birthday today.  We just got done building a Lego set.  Maybe we'll play some Wii in a little bit.

Sadly we have these internet thingies all over the place. We have an optional snow day, but that just means we can work from home if we want.

Not a snow day per se, but, I'm staying put...

Daughter in college in Springfield, Mo....they shut down mid day YESTERDAY! She said folks were clearing off the shelves at Wall Marts, stocking up for the duration. 10 -  15 " snow expected, not to mention ice, etc... Guess Gov. not equiped to deal with this as well as us northerners (Michigan)

We had rain that turned to mix and then ice pellets with a dusting of snow, so things were slick this morning but not too bad on the side roads. I stayed off the highway.  I think only 3 of 17 people in my work area are here.

Fort RIley shut down yesterday at 1500. We aren't suppose to go back to work until 1300 tomorrow. They said it was gonna be snow-magheddon.......so far we have a little ice and a sprinkling of snow.

Kinda bummed, I was gonna take the kids sledding but there's not even enough snow for that.

Im somewhat disappointed in the snow totals here in the north Texas Panhandle.  I was expecting a bit more moisture, but the cold is here with a vengeance.

In the oilfield, we don't stop for nothin - so Im at work.

We're open today, but will re-evaluate weather conditions as the day goes on.

If things look to get really bad, we're closing.

Our clinic is open but I was the only one here for about an hour.  1 Dr. has shown up, and no patients have shown up.  No snow here.  Just ice.

Nice.

Coworker yesterday was telling how his family in Argentina is suffering from a heat wave and the cities are empty and most people have headed to the beach.

Coincidentally, I have Saving Private Ryan on Blu-Ray from Netflix today. Gonna crank that shit up to 75 on surround  while I got a chance and then go pick my son up from daycare.

It is misting this morning, supposed to rain for most of the week, and snow is forecasted for tomorrow. So, they may or may not close post tomorrow or thursday. Probably won't know until 0' dark-thirty in the morning.

For some reason that movie really freaks me out. I can't watch it for entertainment.

The scenes that give me nightmares are:

D-Day landing.
The guy killed by a German with his bayonet, slowing stabbing him. That really got to me, still does.
And, when the Hanks character is killed.

For me, it is a great movie, but not entertaining, if that makes sense.

Between the coffee and the the loud ass surround sound, the first 30 minutes is gonna me a panic attack.

Yea, I know what you mean. We just put in a huge home theater system and I was watching Band of Brothers. In one of the first episodes, the paratroopers hear the incoming 16" shells from the US Navy battleships.

Holy cow, I just about jumped of my sofa to seek shelter.

The surround sound system blew my mind.

Evangel or Drury I guess. Yeah, people down here freak out when it's too sunny outside let alone drizzling or the (snow) STORM OF THE CENTURY® as KY3 puts it.

Not really, I moved out here for the heat.

I had a job for 8 years where we welded steel in an open shop.
It got to 100deg in there by April and 120deg by July.
it made the drive home in the convertible sweet.
