I bought the cheap digitizer off ebay and it works and looks just fine. I have also replaced an lcd on a 3g, and soldered on a new sim card reader on a 3g. All have been pretty simple.

It's a snap. Get the digitizer and glass with the install kit included - you get a screwdriver, a soft prying tool, and a suction cup to help pull the glass out. Take out the two screws at the bottom, stick the suction cup on, and pull. Should pop right out, mine was a little sticky and took a couple of minutes of wiggling to get it out.
When I get home from work in the morning I'll look up which company made the kit I used and post the info here. It was surprisingly cheap, and worked well. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

I've had mine apart a few times to clean lint out of it. Have a good light and your glasses. There are 6 tiny ass screws. Let us know how many you lose. |

I guess I'm the only one who thought it was a pain in the ass. Getting those connections back on solid was quite a feat.

I bought the glass off amazon for under $15... twice. It's scary the first time but if you can handle hooking up the tiny ribbon cables it's really rather easy.
do the suction cup method for pulling it apart. It makes it simple. |

The connections inside are not only a pain in the ass to reconnect, but they're also very fragile. break one of the little tabs that holds the cable in place, and you're screwed. |
